CM Vishnu Deo Sai Leads Yoga Day Celebrations in Jashpur
Urges Citizens to Embrace Yoga and Plant Trees for a Healthier Society
Raipur : On the occasion of the 11th International Day of Yoga, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai led a mass yoga session with thousands of citizens at Ranjita Stadium in Jashpur. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from public representatives, school students, officials, employees, and residents.
The Chief Minister highlighted that yoga is not a new practice but an integral part of India’s ancient Sanatan tradition, developed by sages and seers. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for introducing yoga on the global stage at the United Nations in 2014, leading to its worldwide celebration every year on June 21 since 2015. “It is a matter of pride that yoga is now practiced in over 175 countries,” he remarked.
During the session, certified instructors guided participants through various postures, including Chakrasana, Ardha Chakrasana, Kapalbhati, Anulom-Vilom, Pranayama, and Vajrasana. CM Sai encouraged people to dedicate even a small portion of their day to yoga, stating it helps prevent and cure serious ailments. He also advocated for the use of generic medicines, calling them effective, accessible, and affordable.
Commending the participation of school children, he noted that yoga helps calm the mind and improve concentration in studies. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone for the Nalanda Campus, a ₹11.29 crore education facility to be built on 2 acres, accommodating 500 students. The campus will also include a landscaped garden and aims to benefit rural and economically weaker students.
Further, the CM inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 64 projects worth ₹107.81 crore, including:
- ₹61.20 crore for 85 development works in the Jashpur Assembly area
- ₹15.80 crore for 6 completed projects in the same area
- ₹24.90 crore for 15 new projects in Farsabahar Block, Kunkuri Assembly area
- ₹5.91 crore for 4 completed projects there
The Chief Minister also appealed to citizens to participate in the “One Tree in Mother’s Name” campaign, emphasizing that the ongoing monsoon season is the ideal time for plantation. Yoga trainers were honored with commendation certificates and mementos for their contribution.
Minister for Social Welfare, Lakshmi Rajwade, underlined that yoga benefits everyone equally. She noted this year’s theme, “One Earth, One Health,” reflects the deep interconnection between humanity and nature. She said this year’s observance promotes “Green Yoga”, encouraging tree plantation as part of the celebration.
Chairman of the Yoga Commission, Roop Narayan Sinha, praised the scenic beauty of Jashpur, calling it an ideal place for yoga with its serene landscapes and local produce like tea, cashews, and pears. He said, “Yoga is not just a subject but a way of life that must be internalized through consistent practice.”
Collector Rohit Vyas expressed gratitude to all participants and dignitaries, while Social Welfare Director Roktima Yadav delivered the welcome address.
Dignitaries in attendance included former MP Ranvijay Singh Judev, Padma Shri awardee Jageshwar Ram Yadav, MLA Raimuni Bhagat, District Panchayat President Salik Sai, and officials from various state boards and organizations.
