“Dravidian Model Marches Ahead: CM Stalin Unveils New Projects and Vision for Tirupattur”

In a massive public event marked by warmth and enthusiasm, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announces ₹295 crore worth of development initiatives, highlights welfare achievements, and asserts Tamil Nadu’s leadership in inclusive governance and economic progress.

Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Thiru M.K. Stalin participated in the government function held at Mottam, Mandaloddi in Tirupattur district. At the event, he inaugurated completed projects, laid the foundation stones for new ones, and distributed welfare assistance to beneficiaries of government schemes. He also delivered a special address.

Several MLAs, representatives of local bodies, government officials,
Welfare scheme beneficiaries who have gathered to receive assistance,
Respected women from self-help groups, elders,
Members of the press and media –
I warmly welcome each and every one of you!

Tirupattur district is a unique land known for its fragrant sandalwood from Seyyaru-Arani, the musical flow of the Sanaru River, and of course, the famous spicy Ambur biryani that tempts the taste buds. This district is home to such specialties, and I am delighted to be here participating in this meaningful program at your warm invitation.

Tirupattur is a district that earns revenue and generates employment through the export of high-quality leather goods. Today’s program — involving the inauguration of completed projects, launching of new initiatives, and disbursal of welfare assistance — is held to further enhance the growth of this vibrant region.

Ever since I arrived by train at Vaniyambadi yesterday, I have been overwhelmed by the warmth and affection of the people — your affection. Our senior minister and my elder brother Thiru Durai Murugan said with joy:
“Never before have I seen such a huge crowd!”
“This is the first time in Tamil Nadu’s history that a government has implemented so many people-centric schemes!”

That’s how much work is being done! We are working continuously — and we will continue doing so. That is why you all keep showering us with love and support.

Yesterday, we began our journey from Vaniyambadi to Tirupattur at 5 p.m. It took six hours to reach Tirupattur, and we arrived here at 11 p.m. Along the way, crowds filled both sides of the road — not just common people, but also the differently-abled, women, girl students, farmers, workers — people from every walk of life gathered to welcome us.

Seeing this reception, I felt immensely emotional. If you ask me what this heartfelt welcome means — it tells me that not only for 2026, but also for 2031 and even 2036 — your love and support will always be with us.

Yet, despite everything, the overwhelming public reception we received clearly shows one thing — that it is we who continue to govern this country with the people’s mandate.

Especially noteworthy is the role of the Minister in charge of this district, our dynamic and capable young leader Thiru E.V. Velu, who has been instrumental in meticulously organizing this event! Though he hails from Tiruvannamalai, he is a person who excels everywhere, at all times — that’s who he is. That’s exactly why we appointed him as the Minister in charge of Tirupattur district on behalf of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government. He has not only managed his own portfolio efficiently but has also actively developed this district. I take this opportunity to extend my heartfelt congratulations and appreciation to the representatives of this district who have stood by him in this effort.

Likewise, District Collector Thirumathi Sivasoundaryavalli has done commendable work and has been instrumental in the smooth conduct of this grand event. I would also like to express my appreciation and best wishes to her and the other government officers of this district who worked alongside her.

Today, we are participating in this celebratory function with immense joy and pride, because it is our Dravidian Model Government that has revived and restored Tamil Nadu’s growth after it was derailed during the previous AIADMK regime under a remote-controlled leadership. Within just three years, we have placed Tamil Nadu firmly back on the path of progressive and inclusive development.

You don’t need to remind yourselves that I am the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Even the Union Government, which constantly works against Tamil Nadu’s interests, could not stop our progress. That’s why, Tamil Nadu — with a growth rate of 9.69% — has outpaced many other states in India in economic development.

Do you know what our contribution is to India’s GDP? It is 9.21% — which means nearly one-tenth of the country’s economic progress is from Tamil Nadu!

That’s not all — Tamil Nadu ranks first in social development indicators.

  • We are number one in higher education enrolment rates.
  • We rank second in creating a state without poverty.
  • We rank third in Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and healthcare indicators.
  • We are the least inflation-affected state.
  • We are the most industrialized and urbanized state in the country.

Agricultural development has also advanced through water management initiatives — both irrigation coverage and crop productivity have increased. Employment has risen. Compared to the national average, per capita income in Tamil Nadu has been growing consistently every year.

What drives this development? It is not just focused on cities or select areas, but equally targeted at all regions of the state. That’s why we believe not just in “everything for everyone” but in “everything for every district” — and we are setting up industries and creating jobs even in interior regions. As a result, both urban and rural areas are progressing together.

I have not been governing from Fort St. George (the Secretariat) alone. I’ve been constantly touring districts, taking the government to the people. On average, I visit at least three districts each month.

This very month, after visiting Kallakurichi and Thanjavur districts, I have now come to Tirupattur!

If I were to list all the projects carried out in Tirupattur under our Dravidian Model Government, I would need to read out a lengthy bulletin of achievements. But here is a brief overview:

  • A drinking water scheme worth ₹182 crore has been implemented in Tirupattur.
  • Road infrastructure works worth ₹425 crore are underway.
  • 14 new banks have been established.
  • 114 science laboratories have been added to government schools, and 489 school infrastructure projects are in progress.
  • Under the Anaithu Grama Anna Marumalarchi Scheme, 1,536 local development works worth ₹100 crore are being carried out.
  • Kumbabishekam (consecration) ceremonies have been conducted for 211 temples.
  • Importantly, in Natrampalli block, a non-leather shoe manufacturing park is being established across 125 acres at a cost of ₹250 crore, which will generate employment for 2,500 people.
  • Hostels for working women have been constructed in Tirupattur, Vaniyambadi, and Ambur.
  • A sports development center worth ₹15 crore is being developed.
  • A tourism improvement project in Yelagiri hills worth ₹15 crore is in progress.
  • An additional ₹10 crore has been allotted to improve access and road quality to Yelagiri; both union and district roads will be upgraded.

These are just a few examples of the many development projects and initiatives being undertaken in Tirupattur.

Under our flagship Dravidian Model welfare schemes, several benefits have reached Tirupattur district. Here’s a snapshot:

  • Under the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thittam, 1.74 lakh women receive ₹1,000 per month in financial assistance. I have previously mentioned that women in some areas were unintentionally left out. Measures are now being taken to include them by August or September this year.
  • Under the Chief Minister’s Breakfast Scheme, 42,000 school students receive fresh, hot, nutritious breakfast daily.
  • 7,000 girl students are receiving ₹1,000 per month through the Pudhumai Penn Scheme.
  • 5,000 students are benefitting from the Tamizh Pudhalvan Scheme with ₹1,000 monthly support.
  • Under the Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam (Healthcare at Doorstep) scheme, 4.41 lakh people have been benefitted.
  • 20,000 individuals have received discounted spectacles.
  • 94,000 farmers have benefitted under the Chief Minister’s Integrated Village Development Scheme.
  • 3.45 lakh women have received ₹1,754 crore in Self-Help Group (SHG) loans.
  • 7,000 people have been provided housing.
  • Financial aid has been given for 1,041 girl children under the Girl Child Protection Scheme.
  • 30,000 widowed women have received financial assistance.
  • 1,036 children have received nutritional support.
  • 41,000 students have been given bicycles.
  • 2,000 differently-abled individuals have received assistive devices.

These efforts clearly reflect our Dravidian Model Government’s commitment to inclusive, equitable, and widespread development, ensuring that every district and every citizen truly benefits from growth.

Among unorganized sector workers, 82,000 people have received various financial assistance schemes.

  • Support has been extended to 19 transgender individuals through welfare initiatives.
  • ST certificates have been issued to 18,000 tribal people.
  • Under the Ambedkar Special Self-Employment Scheme, 56 beneficiaries have received subsidized financial assistance.
  • In this district alone, 27,000 people have been issued house site pattas (land titles).

In this context, I would like to make an important announcement:

Within just five months, we had set a target for the Revenue Department to issue five lakh house site pattas across Tamil Nadu. But as of today, we have surpassed that target. Since December 2024, we have distributed a total of 6,91,728 house site pattas across the state.

This reflects our government’s commitment to carefully designing and delivering schemes that reach each and every individual.

Now, if someone asks what new announcements I have for Tirupattur, how can I stay silent? That is why I would like to make five new announcements specifically for this district right now.

First Announcement:
In the Sangnamadai area of Anaikoyil Panchayat Union, a 7 km-long road will be constructed at a cost of ₹30 crore. This road will benefit local children commuting to school, patients accessing medical facilities, and farmers transporting agricultural produce for sale.

Second Announcement:
To ensure uninterrupted power supply for the people of Kumaramangalam, a new power substation will be constructed in that area at a cost of ₹6 crore.

Third Announcement:
In connection with the previously announced leather goods manufacturing hub in Nalligunta, a new sipcot industrial park will be established across 250 acres at a cost of ₹200 crore, providing employment to 5,000 people.

Fourth Announcement:
At the site of the old bus stand in Tirupattur town, a multi-storey commercial complex will be built at a cost of ₹18 crore.

Fifth Announcement:
For the benefit of the people of Ambur, a new library building will be constructed at a cost of ₹1 crore.

We are not merely making announcements; we ensure that projects are implemented, and I personally monitor the progress.

Today, while coming to Tirupattur, I visited the Kalaignar Women’s Hostel in Poothur Panchayat. I also met a woman at her home there — the happiness on her face was boundless, and that joy is my happiness too.

One of Kalaignar’s core visions was a “Hut-free Tamil Nadu”. To turn that vision into reality, under the Kalaignar Housing Scheme, our government aims to construct 8 lakh concrete houses in six years in rural areas by the year 2030. Each house will receive a grant of ₹3.5 lakh.

In just the last two years, ₹7,000 crore has been allocated for building 2 lakh homes. Of these, 90,000 houses have already been completed, and construction is ongoing for the rest. I personally monitor and follow up on the work.

Now, the Union Government also has a housing scheme — called “Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana.” Under this scheme, the unit cost per house is set at ₹1.2 lakh, where the Union Government contributes 60% and the State Government contributes 40%.

But can a house really be built for just ₹1.2 lakh?

Out of this, the Union Government only gives ₹72,000, and the remaining ₹1.62 lakh is provided by our Tamil Nadu State Government to ensure the construction of a complete house.

The name of the scheme might belong to them, but the money is from us.

That’s why I had earlier made a clear statement — “The groom may be theirs, but even the clothes he’s wearing belong to us!

This is the situation — funds that are rightfully due to Tamil Nadu are not being given fairly. And even when they are given, it’s with great reluctance.

What is the mindset of those in power at the Union level? They continuously try to divide the people of Tamil Nadu on the basis of religion and caste. Since they cannot succeed themselves, they back the AIADMK that exists here.

While we raise concerns about economic development, people’s livelihoods, and employment, the BJP and AIADMK don’t care about the people. Instead, they focus only on religion — that’s their politics.

They go around claiming that religion is under threat in Tamil Nadu, but the truth is: it’s their alliance that’s under threat in Tamil Nadu!
The BJP has lost its footing and support. Since they can’t win the people with progressive politics, they are now trying to misuse God for their political gains.

But this kind of god-based politics will never be accepted by the people of Tamil Nadu. This is Periyar’s land, the land nurtured by Anna, and developed by Kalaignar. It’s a land where people of all religions live with dignity, where communal harmony is practiced and celebrated.

In the last four years alone, we have performed Kumbabishekam (temple consecration ceremonies) for 3,000 temples across Tamil Nadu.
We have also allocated ₹84 crore to renovate churches and mosques. That is the Dravidian Model of governance.

Those who do communal politics and try to polarize the people burn with envy when they see this. Since they can’t match our development, they also can’t win votes in Tamil Nadu. Because to speak, you must have done — and they haven’t done anything!

That is why, seeing that even religion-based campaigns are failing now, they know that the DMK is scoring victories everywhere. So, they desperately try to create confusion.

To them I say, and I repeat:
This is Periyar’s land, guided by scholar Anna, and strengthened by Kalaignar. And you are trying to tarnish such great leaders? But the public is watching. The huge crowd at Anna Arivalayam (party headquarters) is proof.

They have mortgaged Anna’s name, and now they are mortgaging the party’s dignity.
We should never allow the identity of Tamil Nadu to be sold out! Tamil Nadu and its proud people clearly understand the hidden conspiracies against this land.

Those who stand against the Tamil race, and those serving our enemies, must be taught a lesson once and for all.

You will always have the shield of the Dravidian progressive movement to protect you, and the steadfast support of Muthuvel Karunanidhi Stalin will always remain by your side — always!

So I ask you today — stand with us, always!

Thank you. Vanakkam.
