GPM District Enters Golden Book of World Records for Mass Anaemia Testing

Over 51,000 Women Undergo HB Testing in a Single Day During ‘Rakt Shakti Maha Abhiyan’

Raipur : GPM (Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi) district has made its mark in the Golden Book of World Records by conducting haemoglobin (HB) tests for 51,727 women aged between 13 and 45 years in a single day as part of the Rakt Shakti Maha Abhiyan held on June 26. The campaign was integrated with the Government of India’s Anaemia Mukt Bharat and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiatives.

Announcing this historic achievement, Sonal Rajesh Sharma, State Head of the Golden Book of World Records, presented the official certificate to the District Collector at a press conference held at the Assembly Hall of the Multipurpose School in Pendra.

State Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal congratulated the district administration for this exceptional accomplishment. He emphasised the significance of haemoglobin testing, stating, “Lack of haemoglobin leads to many health issues. The Rakt Shakti Maha Abhiyan has played a crucial role in identifying anaemia at the grassroots level.”

District Collector Smt. Leena Kamlesh Mandavi acknowledged the collective effort that made the campaign a success. She stated that officials and workers from all departments, from the district to the grassroots level, were mobilised for the initiative. The active participation of public representatives, social organisations, and the media also played a key role.

Contributors to this record-breaking campaign included:

  • Mitanin health workers
  • Anganwadi workers
  • Self-help group members
  • Panchayat secretaries
  • Patwaris and Kotwars
  • Agricultural extension officers

Their coordinated efforts helped accomplish this large-scale health intervention, setting a global example in women’s health outreach.

This milestone not only reflects the district’s commitment to women’s health and empowerment but also highlights the strength of community-based healthcare initiatives in rural India.
