Kolasib Observes 19th National Statistics Day

Kolasib : The District Research Office (DRO), Kolasib observed the 19th National Statistics Day today at the DRO Conference Hall. The event was graced by Smt. B. Malsawmtluangi, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kolasib, as the Chief Guest. Also present were Shri David A. Lalhmingchhuana, District Information and Public Relations Officer (DIPRO), along with staff from the DRO and representatives from RBD Kolasib.

In her address, the Chief Guest Smt. B. Malsawmtluangi highlighted the importance of the District Research Office and the vital role it plays in the collection and management of statistical data. She noted that various government departments rely heavily on accurate data for budgeting and developmental planning. “Statistical data is essential for making informed decisions and assessing progress,” she said. She further added that although the DRO might not engage in as many financial or infrastructure activities as other departments, its contribution is invaluable to both the government and the public.

Also speaking at the function, Shri David A. Lalhmingchhuana, DIPRO Kolasib, emphasized the growing significance of the Economic & Statistics Department and praised the hard work and dedication of its officials. He pointed out that statistical data must be carefully and accurately compiled, as it serves as the backbone for future planning and effective implementation.

The function was chaired by Smt. Mimi Lalramchhani Sailo, while Smt. Agnes Lalremruati, DPA, presented a talk on the significance of National Statistics Day and commemorated the birth anniversary of Prof. Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis, widely regarded as the father of Indian statistics. Since June 29 falls on a Sunday this year, the event was celebrated in advance. Smt. L.P. Vanlalruatfeli delivered the vote of thanks, bringing the programme to a close.
