Minister Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar Meets Key Central Government Officials

New Delhi : Minister of State Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar, who is currently in New Delhi, held meetings today with several key officials including the Director General of the Narcotics Control Bureau, the Secretary of the Department of Public Enterprises under the Ministry of Finance, and the Secretary of the Department of Youth Affairs under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. During these meetings, the Minister discussed various pressing needs and development priorities for Mizoram.

In his meeting with Mr. Anurag Garg, Director General of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Minister Hmar emphasized the urgent need to strengthen enforcement efforts in Mizoram to curb the rising drug menace, especially due to the increasing infiltration of narcotics across the Myanmar border. He stressed the importance of enhanced intelligence-sharing and specialized training for personnel of the Mizoram Excise & Narcotics Department.

The DG, NCB, informed the Minister about ongoing plans to organize capacity-building training programs for officers from Mizoram and other northeastern states involved in anti-narcotics operations. He also mentioned the upcoming inauguration of an NCB Zonal Office in Aizawl. The two officials discussed improved strategies for cross-border enforcement and collaboration to prevent the trafficking of illegal substances from Myanmar.

Later, as the Minister for Sports & Youth Services, Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar also held a meeting with Dr. Pallavi Jain Govil, Secretary (Youth Affairs), Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. He highlighted Mizoram’s active participation in youth development activities and requested the establishment of a youth hostel in Aizawl to better support and accommodate youth programs and training. The Secretary assured him that appropriate steps would be taken based on the proposals received.

Additionally, in his capacity as the Tourism Minister, Pu Tetea Hmar met with Mr. Moses Chalai, Secretary of the Department of Public Enterprises, Ministry of Finance. The Minister noted Mizoram’s limited budgetary capacity and sought support from Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) for development initiatives in the state. Both sides explored avenues for cooperation to bring infrastructural and economic progress to Mizoram through CPSE involvement.

Yesterday, Minister Hmar also met with Dr. Rajendra Kumar, Secretary (Border Management), Ministry of Home Affairs. They discussed multiple approaches to address border-related challenges and enhance enforcement capabilities along the international boundary.
