PM Modi Embarks on Landmark Five-Nation Tour to Strengthen Global Ties

Ghana, Trinidad, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia on PM’s agenda during pivotal eight-day diplomatic outreach

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to begin a major five-nation tour on Wednesday, marking a significant diplomatic outreach to Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean. The eight-day visit will include stops in Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia—aimed at deepening India’s global partnerships and expanding its influence across key regions

PM Modi’s first stop will be in Ghana from July 2 to 3. This visit is historic, as it marks his first trip to the West African nation and the first by any Indian Prime Minister in 30 years. Upon arrival at Accra’s Kotoka International Airport, PM Modi will be accorded full ceremonial honours. He will then proceed to Jubilee House for bilateral talks with Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama.

The official agenda includes high-level discussions, a joint press statement, and a state dinner hosted by President Mahama. According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), both leaders will review the longstanding India-Ghana relationship and explore new avenues of cooperation in areas such as trade, energy, defence, and development.

India has historically played a key role in Ghana’s development, particularly in capacity building and investment. The visit is expected to give a fresh impetus to this strategic partnership.

Following Ghana, PM Modi will visit Trinidad and Tobago, followed by Argentina. He will then travel to Brazil to participate in the 17th BRICS Summit and wrap up his tour in Namibia.

This multi-nation visit reflects India’s growing diplomatic ambitions and commitment to fostering strong ties with countries across the Global South, aligning with New Delhi’s broader foreign policy vision under PM Modi’s leadership.
