Yogi govt’s Computer Training Scheme evokes tremendous response

Over 8,000 applications received so far; last date for submission is July 14

Lucknow : The Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government is taking decisive steps to ensure that welfare schemes for the backward classes effectively reach eligible beneficiaries. Through key initiatives like the Marriage Grant Scheme, Scholarship Scheme, and Computer Training Scheme, lakhs of families and youth have received vital financial and educational support.

As part of its efforts to empower OBC youth with technical skills, the government has launched a dedicated computer training programme with a budget of Rs 35 crore for the 2025–26 financial year. Over 8,000 applications have already been received, and July 14 is the last date for submissions. Officials have been instructed to intensify awareness campaigns to maximise participation and provide digital training that opens pathways to employment, equipping the next generation for success in the digital era.

Marriage Grant Scheme serving as a strong pillar of social support

To support economically weaker families from backward classes, the Yogi government is running a Marriage Grant Scheme that offers financial assistance for the marriage of daughters. In the current financial year, over 74,000 applications have been received, with officials directed to fast-track processing. The scheme, marked by a transparent and time-bound approach, is easing the financial burden of marriage and proving to be a vital support system for underprivileged families.

Scholarship schemes motivate students to continue education

Under the Pre-Matric (Classes 9–10) and Post-Matric (Classes 11–12) scholarship schemes, timely financial assistance is being provided to students from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, General, OBC, and minority communities. The schedule for the 2025–26 academic year has been released:

—Master database preparation by schools: July 1 to July 5

—Online applications by students: July 2 to October 30

—Scholarship disbursement: by December 31, 2025

—Verification by District School Inspectors: by October 15

—Fund requirement generation: by December 27

This structured and time-bound process is enabling students to continue their education without disruption.

Focus on transparency and inclusivity

Minister of State for Backward Class Welfare and Divyangjan Empowerment (Independent Charge) Narendra Kashyap stated that the Yogi government has developed a robust system to ensure transparency and inclusivity in the implementation of these schemes. Applications under the computer training and marriage grant schemes are being swiftly verified and approved, while the digital platform and verification system for scholarships has effectively eliminated the role of middlemen. The government’s goal is to ensure that no eligible person is left out from receiving benefits.

These initiatives are becoming milestones in the empowerment and upliftment of backward communities. By promoting digital literacy through computer training, providing social security through marriage grants, and supporting education through scholarships, the Yogi government is transforming lives of lakhs of families across Uttar Pradesh.
