Centering Plates Become a Source of Self-Employment for Women

Self-Help Groups Receive Loans for Centering Plates under the Bihan Scheme

Raipur : As part of the Atal Nirman Varsh (Atal Construction Year), new construction projects are being approved in villages across the state. To provide self-employment opportunities to rural women through these projects, loans and grants are being sanctioned under the Bihan Scheme. In Dhamtari district, loans have been approved for women to engage in the business of centering plates used in construction.

Women from self-help groups are now renting out centering plates for use in the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) and other government construction works, generating regular income in the process.

To support self-employment through centering plates, a total of 58 women from self-help groups have been provided financial assistance through RF (Revolving Fund), CIF (Community Investment Fund), and bank loans. This includes 27 women from Dhamtari block, 15 from Kurud, 7 from Magarlod, and 9 from Nagri block. Loans were given for the purchase of 59,300 square feet of new centering plates.

Chief Executive Officer of the Dhamtari District Panchayat, Mrs. Roma Srivastava, stated that under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), these groups are not only receiving continuous economic support but also gaining self-confidence, courage, and social respect. The women are responsibly repaying their loans on time and contributing to meeting their families’ needs.
