Ayushman Bharat and Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana Save Life of Warkari Devotee

Mumbai : Balaji Sangekar, a 75-year-old warkari (devotee) from Nanded who had come for the Ashadhi Wari pilgrimage, suffered a sudden and severe heart attack. His health deteriorated during the pilgrimage, prompting immediate admission to Dr. Kane Hospital in Pandharpur. After medical evaluation, doctors found his condition critical and decided to perform an emergency angioplasty.

Thanks to the combined coverage of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana, Sangekar received the necessary Emergency Tertiary Intervention (ETI) services completely free of cost. This timely treatment not only saved his life but also ensured his family did not face any financial burden.

The Government of Maharashtra has implemented an integrated scheme to provide free healthcare services to all. Under this initiative, treatment up to ₹5 lakh is offered free of charge in both public and empanelled private hospitals. The scheme covers treatment for 1,356 diseases, and emergency services (ETI) are provided on priority. Over 2,000 empanelled private and public hospitals across the state offer these services.

For more information about the scheme, citizens can contact the toll-free numbers 14555 / 1800 111 565 or 155 388 / 1800 2332 200, or visit the official website: https://www.jeevandayee.gov.in, as informed by the State Health Assurance Society.
