Udhayanidhi Stalin lays foundation stones for seven major sports infrastructure projects worth ₹64.43 crore

Chennai : Hon’ble Tamil Nadu Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development, Thiru Udhayanidhi Stalin, today laid foundation stones virtually from the Chennai Secretariat for seven sports infrastructure development projects across Tamil Nadu worth a total of ₹64.43 crore.

The projects include:

  • Renovation and upgradation of multipurpose sports grounds in Thiruvannamalai, Ariyalur, and Madurai districts,
  • Construction of new swimming pools in Karur and Madurai districts, and
  • Construction of new sports hostels in Salem and Coimbatore districts.

In his address, Thiru Udhayanidhi Stalin reiterated the Dravidian Model Government’s commitment under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu to make the state a pioneer in sports development across India. He emphasized that every district in Tamil Nadu is being equipped with state-of-the-art sports grounds, indoor stadiums, modern gyms, mini stadia in taluk centers, and sports hostels, reflecting the state’s comprehensive approach to sports infrastructure.

During the event, the Minister virtually laid foundation stones for:

  • Renovation of the multipurpose sports ground in Madurai district at an estimated cost of ₹9.47 crore,
  • Construction of new multipurpose sports grounds in Thiruvannamalai and Ariyalur districts, both at ₹10.15 crore each.

Additionally, he inaugurated works for:

  • A new swimming pool with diving facilities in Madurai district at a cost of ₹12.50 crore,
  • A new swimming pool in Karur district costing ₹6.28 crore,
  • Construction of new sports hostels in Coimbatore (₹7.95 crore) and Salem (₹7.93 crore) districts.

  • Hon’ble Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development Thiru E.V. Velu,
  • Hon’ble Minister for Tourism Thiru R. Gandhi,
  • Hon’ble Minister for Registration and Commercial Taxes Thiru P. Moorthy,
  • Hon’ble Minister for MSME and Digital Technology Thiru Palanivel Thiagarajan,
  • Additional Chief Secretary for Youth Welfare and Sports Development Ms. Athulya Misra, IAS,
  • Member Secretary of Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority Thiru K. Meghnath Reddy, IAS, and other senior officials.
