Sports Minister Holds Meeting On Upcoming Red Bull ‘Aizawl Tlang Ruam’ Event

Aizawl : In preparation for this year’s Red Bull Urban Downhill Mountain Bike Race to be held in Aizawl, Sports & Youth Services and Tourism Minister of State Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar chaired a meeting today with officials from relevant government departments and local community leaders.

The event, titled ‘Red Bull Aizawl Tlang Ruam’, is scheduled for October 26, 2025, and is set to build on the success of its debut last year. It is recognized as one of Asia’s first Red Bull-organized urban downhill mountain bike races. Last year’s edition saw participation from 22 professional riders, including international cycling icons Tomas Slavik from the Czech Republic and Pedro Burns from Chile, who also served as mentors.

Chairing the meeting, Minister Hmar stated that this year’s event is expected to be larger and more inclusive, with a more challenging and dynamic route. He described Tlang Ruam not just as a sports competition but also as an opportunity to boost Mizoram’s visibility and significance on both the Indian and global tourism map. It would also provide entertainment for the public, economic activity for many, and further promote sports and tourism in the region.

The 2025 edition of Aizawl Tlang Ruam is tentatively scheduled for November, with the race route planned to run from Upper Republic to the ITI junction. Organizers aim to elevate both the route design and event execution to international standards, with extensive media coverage and live broadcasting via Jio TV.

Today’s meeting was attended by representatives from various government departments overseeing the event, local councils of Upper Republic, Republic, Republic Vengthlang, and ITI Veng, as well as members from the Mizoram Cycling Association and Red Bull India.
