Madhya Pradesh Now Emerges as the Cleanliness Leader of the Nation : CM Dr. Yadav
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that the honour bestowed upon Indore by President Smt. Droupadi Murmu as the cleanest city in the country in the ‘Super
Swachh League Cities’ category during the Swachh Survekshan 2024 award ceremony is a moment of immense pride for the people of Madhya Pradesh. Notably, Indore has secured the top position among clean cities for the past seven years.
Along with Indore, cities like Bhopal, Dewas, Shahganj, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Ujjain, and Budhni also received cleanliness awards in various categories, which clearly shows that Madhya Pradesh has now emerged as a national leader in cleanliness.
CM Dr. Yadav, in a message issued on the second day of his Spain tour on Thursday, extended heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the citizens of all urban local bodies, especially sanitation workers, public representatives, and concerned officials, for this achievement.
CM Dr. Yadav, expressing his delight over this accomplishment, said that Madhya Pradesh has once again secured the top position, as it has consistently done in the past. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, all states have had the opportunity to compete in cleanliness rankings. He noted that a special league was created for leading cities across various cleanliness categories, in which Indore earned the top spot.
Indore has been awarded the Swachh League Award in the new category for cities with a population of over 10 lakh in the Swachh Survekshan 2024, ranking it as the best in the country.
Holy City Ujjain Recognised as a Top Clean City in Its Category
CM Dr. Yadav shared that the holy city of Ujjain ranked first in the 3–10 lakh population category under the Swachh League Award. Similarly, Budhni was recognised as the cleanest city among towns with a population of less than 20,000. Among cities with more than 10 lakh population, Bhopal ranked second, Jabalpur fifth, and Gwalior fourteenth. In Swachh Survekshan 2024, Gwalior also received the State Award for Most Promising City in Cleanliness.
Dewas topped the category of cities with populations between 50,000 and 3 lakh. It is worth noting that the capital city Bhopal had already been recognised as the cleanest state capital in the country.
