Combined Crew Lobby inaugurated at Tarakeswar Station

Amidst the yearly Shravani Mela festival which has just commenced in the Holy Town of Tarakeswar, Eastern Railways, in a move to modernise operations and improve crew welfare, a state-of-the-art Combined Crew Lobby (CCL) has been presented to the Railway Employees. The CCL was inaugurated on 18.07.2025 at Tarakeswar by Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, Divisional Railway Manager, Howrah Division. This facility marks a major advancement in streamlining crew management and improving working conditions, a Step Forward in Enhancing Crew Welfare and Operational Excellence.

Integrated with the existing Running Room, the lobby primarily supports suburban train operations, with additional provisions for freight crew handling. Notably, 100% of crew booking at Tarakeswar is now done through the Crew Management System (CMS), enhancing efficiency and transparency.

The facility includes modern features such as a Smart Board for Crew Counselling to relay safety and technical information, and SPEED ALERT PRO—an indigenously developed system for real-time updates on speed restrictions. Two CMS kiosks have been installed to enable uninterrupted crew booking, while electronic safety posters promote continuous safety awareness.

To support inclusivity, a dedicated ladies’ changing room has been provided, alongside round-the-clock access to purified drinking water for staff. Smart charging points for Fog Safe Devices (FSDs), with multi-voltage compatibility and safety features like automatic power cut-off and LED indicators, have also been installed.

This modern Crew Lobby is a reflection of Eastern Railway’s commitment to staff welfare, technological integration, and operational excellence. It is expected to significantly improve crew turnaround times and contribute to safer, more efficient train operations.
