Yogi govt approves Dr. K.N. Modi University, boosting higher education in Ghaziabad

Lucknow : The Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government has taken a major step in advancing higher education by granting operational approval to Dr. K.N. Modi University in Modinagar, Ghaziabad. Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay formally handed over the letter of authorization to university representatives at his residence in Lucknow on Wednesday.

The proposed institution has now been listed as the 49th entry in Schedule 2 of the Uttar Pradesh Private University Act, 2019, under the Uttar Pradesh Private University (Second Amendment) Ordinance, 2025 (Ordinance No. 8 of 2025). With this statutory recognition, the university is now authorized to begin formal operations.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Yogendra Upadhyay emphasized the Yogi government’s commitment to fostering quality and innovation in higher education. He noted that the establishment of a university in Ghaziabad by a reputed institution like the Dr. K.N. Modi Group will open new avenues for students in the region. The initiative will not only empower local youth, but also contribute significantly to Uttar Pradesh’s emergence as a leader in the education sector.

The minister further highlighted that the state government is actively encouraging private sector participation to enhance educational infrastructure and innovation. The approval of this university marks another milestone toward expanding higher education and ensuring quality learning under the New Education Policy 2020.
