Teej Festival: A Gateway to Rajasthani Culture

Deputy CM and Minister for Tourism, Art, and Culture Diya Kumari emphasized that Teej offers the younger generation a chance to experience the vibrancy of Rajasthani culture and traditions. She said this year’s festival will be celebrated on a larger and grander scale, with around 200 folk artists showcasing their skills to mesmerize Jaipur residents and visiting domestic and international tourists alike.

Encouraging Women’s Participation

The Tourism Department presented a comprehensive plan for the festival. Diya Kumari stressed the importance of maximizing women’s participation, in keeping with Jaipur’s traditions. She directed public invitations be extended to women in large numbers.

Women Priests and Special Jhankis

In a first, women priests will perform the rituals dedicated to Teej Mata (Goddess). Separate processions and tableaux (jhankis) by women will also be featured. On July 27, a grand stage will be set up at Choti Chaupad for the ceremonial aarti and worship of Teej Mata’s procession. Additionally, a two-day fair will be held at Poundrik Park.

Grand Celebrations at Choti Chaupad

A large stage will be installed at Choti Chaupad for the grand puja of Teej Mata’s procession, where the Governor, Chief Minister, and Assembly Speaker are expected to attend. Folk artists will also perform there to entertain and engage visitors.

Live Telecast Across Rajasthan

Diya Kumari announced that the entire festival will be broadcast live on various TV channels and through 200 public screens across Rajasthan with the help of DOIT (Department of Information Technology).

Majestic Teej Procession

The Teej procession will be a grand spectacle with decorated elephants, camels, horses, oxen, and traditional bands, shehnais, and drums. Folk artists will add colour and energy with vibrant performances showcasing Rajasthan’s artistic heritage.

Special Teej Fair for Women at Poundrik Park

A dedicated Teej fair for women will be organized at Poundrik Park, where Jaipur women will dress in colourful Rajasthani traditional attire, wear lehriya dupattas, enjoy swings, feast on sweets like ghevar, and shop in festive markets.

Craft Market and Attractions

The fair will feature a Craft Market exhibiting handmade items prepared by women, alongside food stalls, mehndi artists, and swings. Folk performances will also be held in the park, making it a cultural and festive hub for women and families during Teej.

This year’s Teej Festival in Jaipur promises to be a spectacular celebration of culture, tradition, and womanhood, with wide participation from citizens and state leadership alike.
