Extensive Impact of CM Yogi’s Plantation Drive: Uttar Pradesh Moves Toward a Greener Future

Lucknow – Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh’s plantation drive has transformed from a simple campaign into a massive green movement. What began as a state initiative has now become a public crusade for environmental preservation—drawing participation from citizens, saints, students, law enforcement, and social organizations alike.

Water Woman Shipra Pathak Plants 5.1 Million Saplings Along 11 Rivers

Shipra Pathak, popularly known as “Water Woman,” has undertaken a remarkable initiative by planting 5.1 million saplings along the banks of 11 rivers. A motivational speaker from Budaun, she has also founded the “Panchatatva” organization with a mission to plant 10 million trees across the state.

“Tree Man in Khaki” Plants 470,000 Trees in Lucknow

Mukesh Babu Singh Chauhan, a police official and environmental officer in Lucknow Police Commissionerate, is leading a plantation campaign through his organization named after his mother, Anara Devi Shaheed Sansthan. Known locally as the “Tree Man in Khaki,” Chauhan has so far planted 470,000 trees, drawing inspiration directly from CM Yogi.

The Yogi Model of Greening Gains National Recognition

CM Yogi Adityanath’s greening strategy has been praised across India, with people from other states, including Maharashtra’s Sujata Singh, joining the campaign in Uttar Pradesh. The movement has now become synonymous with public participation, with tree planting organized on festivals, birthdays of great leaders, and religious occasions.

Every Citizen as a Green Ambassador

According to Mukesh Babu, the drive includes major institutions like CISF, ISRO, PAC, CBCID, and numerous school and college campuses. Free saplings are being distributed and planted across districts like Lucknow, Sitapur, Barabanki, and Etawah. The goal is to make every citizen a brand ambassador of greenery.

Special Nursery in Malihabad Engages School Children

A dedicated nursery in Malihabad is helping introduce environmental responsibility to children early in life. Students are actively participating in planting saplings to help foster a lifelong commitment to environmental care.

Saints Join the Green Movement at Saptarshi Vatika, Prayagraj

At the Saptarshi Vatika near the Sangam in Prayagraj, under the guidance of Mahant Balbir Giri Maharaj of Bade Hanuman Mandir, medicinal and religiously significant plants like Tulsi, Bel, Durva, Shami, and Chichida are being planted. Mans Chhirvijay, the youngest “Ganga Sevak” honored by the CM, remarked that this effort is not just a campaign, but a spiritual yajna (sacred ritual).

Ayodhya’s Plantation Movement Led by Saints

In Ayodhya, Swami Dilip Das Tyagi, head of the Raghuwansh Sankalp Sewa, has planted over 100,000 trees. He emphasized that this movement has become a mass uprising that is not only increasing the green cover but also spreading environmental awareness.

World Record: 370 Million Trees Planted in a Day

On July 9, 2025, under the campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0” (One Tree in Mother’s Name 2.0), Uttar Pradesh set a world record by planting over 370 million saplings in a single day. This historic feat was the result of collective participation from citizens, 26 government departments, and all 75 districts of the state.

Beyond Planting: Ensuring Long-Term Responsibility

CM Yogi’s policy does not end at planting trees. Each sapling is assigned for care and protection, with systems in place for watering and monitoring. Schools, colleges, panchayat buildings, police stations, and roadsides are being developed into green zones with strong community participation.

Under CM Yogi Adityanath’s visionary leadership, Uttar Pradesh is not only becoming greener—it is setting a national benchmark in public environmental consciousness. This is not just about trees; it’s about legacy, responsibility, and the creation of a sustainable future for generations to come.
