Adviser to CM Dr. K.C. Lalmalsawmzauva Visits Site for Ginger Processing Unit at Lunglei Pukpuia Integrated Infrastructure Development Centre (IIDC)

Lunglei, Aug 2025:Dr. K.C. Lalmalsawmzauva, Adviser to the Chief Minister of Mizoram (Implementation of Handholding Policy), visited the Lunglei Pukpuia Integrated Infrastructure Development Centre (IIDC) today to inspect the site designated for establishing an industrial area and a Ginger Processing Unit (GPU).

The Adviser was accompanied by members of the Mizoram State Policy Coordination Committee (MSPCC), including Pu L.P. Lalchangkima (Managing Director, ZIDCO), Pu Zohmingthanga (MAMB Member), Pi Laldikkimi (MAMB Member), and Co-opted Member Pi C. Zochansangi. Officers and staff from the Commerce & Industries, Power & Electricity, and Information & Public Relations Departments in Lunglei also joined the site inspection.

During the visit, they inspected potential locations for the ginger processing facility, evaluated water and electricity supply arrangements, and discussed various essential requirements for setting up the unit.

Under the Mizoram Handholding Scheme, the government aims to establish ginger processing units across the state to ensure fair pricing for farmers and minimize wastage of perishable produce. As part of this initiative, Lunglei has been selected for setting up a GPU, with financial assistance expected from the Ministry of DoNER.

Dr. Lalmalsawmzauva also reviewed the existing industrial units at Lunglei IIDC, assessing their current status and potential for further development. Currently, there are 10 industrial units operating within the IIDC. Additionally, under the Promotion of MSMEs in NER & Sikkim Scheme, a Flatted Factory Complex comprising 24 factory spaces is under construction at a sanctioned cost of ₹997.96 lakh.
