Cloudburst in Uttarakhand; 51 Tourists from Maharashtra Safe

Mumbai, Aug 2025 : Due to heavy rainfall and cloudburst in the Dharali area (Uttarkashi district) of Uttarakhand, the Kheer Ganga river overflowed, causing severe flooding and damage to several houses. Meanwhile, tourists from various districts of Maharashtra who were stranded in Uttarkashi have been confirmed safe. Among them are 11 tourists from Nanded district and 40 from other districts, making a total of 51 tourists, according to the State Emergency Operations Centre.
The Maharashtra Government is proactively coordinating to provide necessary assistance to the stranded tourists in Uttarakhand. Continuous communication is being maintained with the Uttarakhand Disaster Management Centre and the Uttarkashi District Disaster Centre. Efforts are being made through Maharashtra Sadan, Delhi, to evacuate the stranded tourists to safe locations. Additionally, district administrations in Maharashtra have been alerted and provided with necessary instructions. The State Emergency Operations Centre has assured that the situation is being closely monitored and further updates and instructions will be issued as required.
