Mamit Observes National Deworming Day

Mamit, Aug 2025: Along with the rest of the country, National Deworming Day was observed today at Mamit Middle School III. The programme was attended and led by Pu K. Lalnunfela, District Education Officer, Mamit District, as the chief guest.

Pu K. Lalnunfela highlighted that good health is essential for every individual, and poor health often leads to discomfort and reduced productivity. Therefore, it is important to ensure the well-being of school children. He stated that the Government of India conducts deworming drives for children aged 1 to 19 years to protect them from worm infestations, which can cause health complications. On this occasion, he urged students to take the deworming tablets provided and encouraged teachers to supervise and ensure proper administration.

Dr. Thanmawii, Deputy CMO, explained the harmful effects of worm infestations on the human body, their causes, and the different types of worms. She also informed that those who could not take the deworming tablet today would have another opportunity on August 18, 2025, during the mop-up round.

The event was also attended by Pi Elloy Zonunpari, DPM (Coordinator), who, along with officials and students, actively participated in the programme and took the deworming tablets.

The session was coordinated by Pu Dominic Lalnunhlua, UDC (WCD), who also conducted a handwashing demonstration for the students. Pu Lalramchhana Hnamte, District Coordinator, delivered the vote of thanks.
