Chhattisgarh Silver Jubilee Festival – A Grand Celebration of Culture and Pride: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai
Raipur, Aug 2025 – Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated the Chhattisgarh Silver Jubilee Festival from the open-air stage in Raipur on the occasion of Independence Day. The festival, which began on August 15, 2025, will continue across the state for 25 weeks until February 6, 2026, marked by joy, enthusiasm, and public participation.
CM Sai emphasized that the Silver Jubilee is not merely a government event, but a festival of the people, requiring active participation from every class, community, and age group. Calling for collective involvement, he said that united efforts toward the dream of a Developed Chhattisgarh and Developed India will surely lead to success.
Remembering former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the Chief Minister said that Chhattisgarh’s statehood was possible due to Vajpayee Ji’s efforts. He added that the state has made remarkable progress in the last 25 years and now aims to build a developed Chhattisgarh by 2047.
Highlighting traditional celebrations, the CM announced that popular events like Bastar Olympics and Bastar Pandum will also be organized during the Jubilee, adding new energy to local sports and folk culture. He said the festival, celebrated with public participation, cultural pride, and a spirit of development, will be recorded as a golden chapter in the state’s history.
Speaking about governance, CM Sai recalled that before statehood, farmers were denied fair prices for their produce. The government developed a model Public Distribution System (PDS) through which millions of families now receive free food grains, ensuring no one goes hungry. Currently, paddy is being procured at ₹3,100 per quintal up to 21 quintals per acre. Over the last two years, more than ₹1 lakh crore has been directly transferred into farmers’ accounts.
He further noted that prestigious institutions such as IIT, IIM, IIIT, and the National Law University were established in Chhattisgarh after statehood. The state’s GSDP has risen from ₹21,000 crore to ₹5 lakh crore, with a target of ₹10 lakh crore in the next five years. New-age industries such as pharma, semiconductors, and textiles have attracted investments worth over ₹6 lakh crore under the new industrial policy.
25 Weeks of Diverse Programs
During the 25-week-long celebrations, various departments, social organizations, business groups, and cultural institutions will host a wide range of programs across the state. The CM appealed to citizens to take part in these events with full enthusiasm.
Release of Special Publications, Logo, and Web Portal
The inaugural event also witnessed the release of the Silver Jubilee Special Edition book, along with the unveiling of the official logo and web portal.
In his welcome address, Culture Department Secretary Rohit Yadav said the Jubilee was an opportunity to relive history and take pride in cultural heritage. He stressed ensuring active participation from the poor, youth, women, and general public. Each government department has been allotted a dedicated week to organize activities at the village level, raising awareness about welfare schemes.
The event was attended by MLAs Motilal Sahu, Guru Khushwant Saheb, and Purandar Mishra, State Food and Civil Supplies Corporation Chairman Sanjay Srivastava, Chhattisgarh Sahitya Akademi Chairman Shashank Sharma, Keshkala Board Chairperson Mona Sen, Minority Commission Chairman Amarjit Chhabra, Raipur District Panchayat President Naveen Agrawal, Culture Department Director Vivek Acharya, Collector Gaurav Kumar, officials, dignitaries, and a large number of school students.
