Howrah – Bhagalpur Vande Bharat extended till Jamalpur

The prestigious Vande Bharat Express, inaugurated between Howrah and Bhagalpur by the Honourable Prime Minister on 15th. September 2024 and introduced for regular service from 17th. September 2024, has now been extended up to Jamalpur. This service will operate as 22309 / 22310 Howrah –Jamalpur – Howrah Vande Bharat Express, marking a significant step in strengthening regional connectivity across West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar.

The extended service was flagged off today (16.08.2025) from Jamalpur station by Mr. Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh, Union Minister of Panchayati Raj, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, and Mr. Samrat Choudhary, Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar. Mr. Ajay Kumar Singh, MLA, Mr. Pranab Kumar, MLA, Mr. Lal Mohan Gupta, MLC and other dignitaries were also present to grace the occasion. Mr. Manish Kumar Gupta, DRM / Malda, along with Senior Branch Officers of Malda Division also attended the flagging-off ceremony at Jamalpur station. The initiative aims to meet increasing passenger demand while ensuring faster, more comfortable, and efficient travel between these important regional hubs.

In their address, Mr. Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh and Mr. Samrat Choudhary expressed their pride at the extension of the Jamalpur – Howrah – Jamalpur Vande Bharat Express. They highlighted that this new service will significantly improve regional connectivity, benefitting traders, students, and the local economy, while also encouraging religious tourism in Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal. They underlined that bringing Jamalpur closer to major industrial and academic hubs marks a pivotal opportunity for the region.

Mr. Pranab Kumar and Mr. Ajay Kumar Singh also shared their views, describing the Vande Bharat Express as a remarkable leap forward for Indian Railways. They cited its advanced features and high speed as major benefits for passengers, emphasising that the extension would generate economic opportunities, foster growth in trade and tourism, and enhance educational and employment prospects for local youth.
