FASTag Annual Pass Launched, 1.4 Lakh Users Sign Up on First Day

New Delhi, Aug 2025 — The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has rolled out the FASTag Annual Pass across 1,150 toll plazas on National Highways and Expressways, offering road users a seamless and cost-effective travel option.

According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the new facility has received a strong response since its launch on August 15. By 7 p.m. on the first day, nearly 1.4 lakh users had purchased and activated the pass, while 1.39 lakh transactions were recorded at toll plazas.

The pass, available exclusively for non-commercial vehicles with a valid FASTag, is priced at a one-time fee of ₹3,000. It offers one year of validity or up to 200 toll plaza crossings, eliminating the need for frequent recharges. Once the payment is made through the Rajmargyatra App or NHAI website, the pass is activated within two hours. Users also receive SMS confirmations showing zero toll deductions for eligible journeys.

The NHAI said that about 20,000–25,000 concurrent users are accessing the Rajmargyatra App at any given time, highlighting the growing adoption of the new system. To ensure smooth operations, nodal officers and NHAI officials have been deployed at every toll plaza. Additionally, the 1033 National Highway Helpline has been strengthened with over 100 new executives to address queries and grievances of pass holders.

With FASTag already achieving a penetration rate of 98 per cent and more than eight crore users nationwide, the Annual Pass is expected to further enhance user experience and convenience. Officials emphasized that the initiative will make highway journeys not only more economical but also more seamless by reducing congestion and simplifying toll collection.

“The FASTag Annual Pass reflects our commitment to making travel on national highways smoother, faster, and more affordable. It will transform the way citizens experience road travel in India,” the ministry said in a statement.

The scheme is seen as another step in strengthening the country’s electronic toll collection ecosystem, following FASTag’s success in revolutionising tolling on highways.
