State Government Committed to Strengthened Civic Amenities and Planned Urban Development: CM Bhajanlal Sharma

Jaipur, Aug 2025 : Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said that the state government is consistently working to accelerate the planned development of Rajasthan, which is strengthening the state’s infrastructure. He directed officials to complete urban development projects on time, with regular monitoring and a strong focus on quality work, so that the public benefits without delay.

Chairing a review meeting of the Urban Development and Local Self-Governance Department at the Chief Minister’s Office on Monday, Shri Sharma emphasized that the government’s priority is to enhance basic civic amenities in urban areas. He instructed officials to expedite projects related to infrastructure, sanitation, drinking water, roads, sewerage, solid waste management, and housing schemes.

Housing Board to Ensure Better Promotion and Affordable Housing

The CM said the Rajasthan Housing Board should maximize the use of its properties while considering consumer needs and current trends to increase revenue. He directed the board to compete with private developers by providing quality housing at reasonable rates. He also asked for effective promotion of Housing Board projects, inclusion of private sector participation, and innovation in planning.

Beautification of Dravyavati River

Shri Sharma instructed that encroachments along Jaipur’s Dravyavati River be removed on priority and the area developed from a tourism perspective. He also called for speeding up plantation drives along the river. The meeting was informed that, to ease traffic congestion, work orders have been issued for elevated roads at Riddhi-Siddhi intersection, while the DPR for the Apex Circle elevated road has also been sanctioned.

Phased Completion of Urban Development Projects

The CM announced the launch of the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Urban Development Scheme to prepare a comprehensive mobility plan for better sewage, drainage, parks, and public transport facilities, aimed at managing the growing population pressure in urban areas. He directed that all projects be completed in phases, with clear accountability at each stage.

Acceleration in Budget Announcements and Land Allocation

The CM said under Jaipur Metro Phase-2, services will run from Sitapura Industrial Area to Ambabadi and Vidyadhar Nagar (up to Todi Mod), and work should be expedited to meet deadlines. He instructed officials to speed up land allocation for 2025–26 budget announcements and ensure execution based on cost estimates.

He also reviewed road construction and widening works in Barmer, Dholpur, Phulera and other cities, besides drainage projects in Bhim-Rajsamand, Surajgarh-Jhunjhunu, Dausa, Taranagar-Churu, Nagar, and Sikri-Deeg. He emphasized time-bound completion of sewerage works to improve sanitation and ease of movement for citizens.

Solid Waste Management and Public Transport Upgrades

The CM directed the immediate commencement and wide publicity of solid waste processing plants constructed in Alwar, Pali, Bhilwara, Dausa, Hanumangarh, and Jhunjhunu, and instructed that a seminar be organized with farmers’ participation to raise awareness.

He also instructed the establishment of modern bus shelters with charging stations to facilitate the smooth operation of electric buses in urban areas.

The meeting reviewed the progress of announcements made in the 2024–25 and 2025–26 state budgets related to the Urban Development and Local Self-Governance Department. It was attended by Minister of State for Urban Development (Independent Charge) Jhabar Singh Kharra, Chief Secretary Sudhansh Pant, and senior officials of the department.
