Jaipur, Aug 2025 : Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said that the state government is committed to providing world-class sports facilities from villages to towns to encourage youth participation in sports and nurture their talent. He directed the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports to ensure time-bound and effective implementation of budget announcements, while also preparing a comprehensive action plan for the successful organization of the Khelo India University Games 2025.

Presiding over a review meeting at the Chief Minister’s Office on Monday, Shri Sharma said that the upcoming games would create a vibrant sports environment across Rajasthan. He instructed officials to expand sports facilities and strengthen infrastructure across the state.

Best Facilities and Inter-Departmental Coordination

Highlighting that thousands of talented athletes from across India would participate, the CM directed that arrangements for accommodation, transport, food, and other facilities be of the highest standard. He asked local bodies, the health department, and the public works department to work in close coordination to ensure timely delivery of all essential services. He also suggested exploring the possibility of hosting events not only in Jaipur but in other districts as well.

Greater Youth Participation in Sports

The Chief Minister stressed that no lapse should be tolerated in preparations and that suggestions from past organizers should be incorporated. He directed officials to select the best sports venues to provide athletes with excellent facilities and also proposed designing a mobile app for smooth management of the Games. He emphasized taking every possible step to ensure maximum youth participation.

Sports Environment from Panchayat to District Level

Placing special focus on modernizing sports infrastructure, Shri Sharma said that a sports-friendly environment should be created at the panchayat, sub-divisional, and district levels before the Games. He directed the holding of local-level competitions to prepare the ground for wider participation.

The CM also emphasized the importance of adequate human resources for promoting sports and directed the immediate recruitment of coaches and other vacant posts in the Youth Affairs and Sports Department.

One District–One Sport Model

To encourage different sports across the state, Shri Sharma said the government has adopted the ‘One District, One Sport’ concept, under which each district will promote a specific sport. This will help in producing specialized talent across disciplines. He asked officials to seek reports from district collectors about the availability of resources and requirements for infrastructure development. He further directed that sports experts be appointed as coordinators in every district to scout talent and guide development.
