Kejriwal’s Warning Proves True, Says AAP: Modi Govt Bringing Law to Topple Opposition Govts – Saurabh Bhardwaj
- “First, they will file false cases against a CM, then blackmail him, and if he refuses to comply, they will jail him and topple his government,” says Saurabh Bhardwaj.
- “Arvind Kejriwal understood the BJP’s conspiracy, which is why he resigned from the CM post after coming out of jail,” he added.
- “Under this new law, a CM need not even be proven guilty—just keeping him in jail for 30 days will be enough to remove him,” said AAP’s chief spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar.
- “BJP’s lust for power is endless; the first targets of this law will be TDP and JDU,” Kakkar added.
New Delhi, Aug 2025 – The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday alleged that the BJP-led Modi government is preparing a new law aimed at dismissing elected chief ministers by using arrests in criminal cases as a pretext, thereby destabilizing opposition governments.
AAP Delhi convenor Saurabh Bhardwaj said that this was exactly what former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal had warned about: that BJP could go to any extent to topple opposition governments. “The conspiracy is clear: first lodge a false case against a chief minister, then use it to blackmail him. If he doesn’t give in, send him to jail and topple his government,” Bhardwaj said.
He recalled that Kejriwal had sensed this strategy earlier, which is why after being jailed without evidence, he chose to resign from the CM post once he was released—foiling BJP’s attempt to break AAP from within.
Bhardwaj alleged that BJP has been using such tactics for years, but Kejriwal has always been the first to expose their designs. “He had said in multiple TV interviews that if he gave in, BJP would repeat the same with all opposition chief ministers—whether Mamata Banerjee or M.K. Stalin—file a case, put them in jail, and then topple their governments,” he said.
Bhardwaj further alleged that since BJP has run out of options, it is now bringing a new law that would allow dismissal of CMs simply after keeping them in jail for 30 days, regardless of conviction or evidence.
AAP’s chief national spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar said Kejriwal was jailed for six months without proof or investigation. “Neither ED nor CBI could produce a single piece of evidence in court, because there was nothing. Even the Supreme Court described them as a ‘caged parrot,’ and most cases are ending in closure reports. But the BJP now wants to bypass evidence altogether—just jail a CM for 30 days and on the 31st day, remove him,” she said.
Kakkar alleged that the BJP is trying to legalize its unconstitutional moves. “Modi ji has lost public trust, people want freedom from BJP, but their obsession with power continues. Earlier, they bought and sold legislators; now they’ve found a new way to topple governments. Their entire politics is negative,” she said.
She warned that the first victims of this new law would be NDA allies like TDP and JDU, who must think twice before supporting the bill. “If this bill passes, Modi ji will no longer face embarrassment of inducting scam-accused leaders. Instead of explaining away a ₹70,000 crore scam, they can just arrest someone on a small FIR, force him to resign or join BJP. This way even the stigma of harboring corrupt leaders will be avoided,” Kakkar said.
