Complete Construction of the First Phase of the GST Building by December 2026 – Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar

Mumbai, Aug 2025 : The construction of the first of the four buildings of the GST Building being developed in Wadala should be completed by December 2026. After the completion of the building, the government offices currently located in rented spaces in Mumbai should be relocated to this building, instructed Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

A meeting regarding the allocation of space for various government offices at the GST Building was held in the committee room of the Deputy Chief Minister’s office at the Secretariat. Deputy Chief Minister Pawar made these remarks during the meeting. Present at the meeting were Additional Chief Secretary of the Finance Department O.P. Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary of the Planning Department Dr. Rajgopal Devra, Additional Chief Secretary of the Public Works Department Manisha Mhaisekar, GST Commissioner Ashish Sharma, and other relevant officials.

Stating that the GST Building should be constructed on a corporate model, Deputy Chief Minister Pawar emphasized that space allocation for government offices should be carried out in accordance with the rules. He instructed that information regarding the spaces of currently rented offices should be gathered before making allocations. After the space has been allocated, proposals should be made to rent any remaining spaces to private companies. He also suggested the establishment of a joint committee consisting of the Additional Chief Secretaries of the Finance Department and Public Works Department, as well as the GST Commissioner, for the allocation of space to government offices.

The GST Building in Wadala will house government offices within a total area of 430,000 square feet. Additionally, there will be good connectivity to the site through metro stations, suburban stations, the Eastern Freeway, and the Atal Setu road.
