‘National Space Day’: 1.48 crore students of 1.32 lakh UP council schools gain insight into space

Lucknow, Aug 2025 : On the initiative of the Yogi government, ‘National Space Day’ was celebrated today in 1.32 lakh council schools across Uttar Pradesh, introducing children directly to India’s space achievements. Around 1.48 crore students explored planets, satellites, and the origin of the universe through digital resources. For the first time, they learned in detail about India’s journey from Chandrayaan to Gaganyaan.

Through digital platforms, students observed and understood future technologies in a systematic way. Along with this, special exhibitions, workshops, and creative activities organized in schools provided students with opportunities to experience new horizons of space science. Group discussions, drawing competitions, model exhibitions, and digital sessions engaged children, while teachers and experts guided them throughout the program.

After the event, students expressed joy and a keen curiosity to delve deeper into space and technology. For many, it was the first time they learned in detail about landmark missions such as Chandrayaan, Aditya-L1, and Gaganyaan. The experience not only inspired them to dream of future roles in space exploration but also ignited a fresh wave of enthusiasm for science and space research.

Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh said that India’s achievements in space are a great source of inspiration for the younger generation. He emphasized that the Yogi government aims for children to go beyond textbooks and gain a practical understanding of science and technology. “The objective of National Space Day is to spark a deep interest in science among children and guide them towards future opportunities in the field of space and technology,” he said.

The Minister further highlighted that the Education Department has already introduced students to modern technologies through initiatives like smart classes, digital libraries, drone and robotics labs. Now, celebrations like Space Day will further broaden this vision, paving the way for research and innovation among students.
