Punjab Police Arrest Two Shooters of Lucky Patial-Bambiha Gang in Mumbai, Foil Future Attacks

Chandigarh, Aug 2025 — In a significant breakthrough against organized crime, the Punjab Police on Sunday arrested two shooters linked to the notorious Lucky Patial–Devinder Bambiha gang from Mumbai. The arrests were made in connection with the murder of Hardeep Singh alias Deepa Kulpuria, which took place on July 2 in Kulpur village of Pojewal, SBS Nagar district.

Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav identified the arrested men as Karan Ganger (25) of Road Mazra, Hoshiarpur, and Jaskarandeep Singh alias Kallu (23) of Ramgarh Jhungian, Garhshankar. According to investigations, the killing was carried out on the directions of Jaskaran Singh alias Kannu, a US-based handler of the gang, and stemmed from personal enmity.

Details of the Murder Case

Police said the victim, Deepa Kulpuria, was gunned down on July 2 in what appeared to be a targeted attack. A case was registered the following day at the Pojewal police station under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act. Investigators soon linked the crime to the Lucky Patial-Bambiha network, prompting a state-wide manhunt.

DGP Yadav emphasized that the arrests demonstrate the force’s commitment to ensuring that “criminals will not be spared, regardless of where they try to hide.” He added that continued operations against this gang have already resulted in the arrest of several of its associates in recent months.

Coordinated Operation Across States

Sharing details of the operation, Senior Superintendent of Police (SBS Nagar) Mehtab Singh said a Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by the Superintendent of Police (Investigation), was set up immediately after the murder. Working with technical surveillance and human intelligence, police teams from Jalandhar and SBS Nagar traced the suspects’ movements to Mumbai.

With support from AIG (Counter Intelligence) Navjot Singh Mahal, joint teams traveled to Mumbai and, with the assistance of local police, successfully apprehended the duo. Authorities revealed that the arrested shooters were in line to receive further “assignments” from their foreign handlers, and their capture has prevented potential criminal acts.

Interrogation and Further Probes

Both accused are currently being interrogated to identify other members of the conspiracy and to uncover the extent of their connections with overseas operatives. Police believe that cracking this module will disrupt the larger network that has been attempting to expand its influence in Punjab.

Community Cooperation Urged

The Punjab Police and local administration have appealed to the public to provide any information related to gang activity. Officials stressed that timely intelligence sharing could play a crucial role in preventing violent incidents.

Message Against Organized Crime

The DGP said that these arrests are not just about solving one murder but about sending a strong message to organized crime groups. “Operations like these will make criminals and their associates cautious, and will help reduce incidents of gang-related violence in the state,” he noted.

The Punjab Police have reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring that organized crime networks operating both domestically and from abroad are systematically dismantled.
