CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Inspects Disaster-Affected Areas in Syana Chatti, Barkot Tehsil
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted an on-site inspection of the disaster-affected region in Syana Chatti, Barkot Tehsil. He reviewed the ongoing work to release water from the temporary lake formed there and met with affected residents, listening to their concerns and assuring them of all possible assistance.
Due to debris flowing into the Yamuna from the Gadgad Gadhera stream near Syana Chatti, the river’s flow had been obstructed, resulting in the formation of a temporary lake. The Chief Minister inspected this lake and directed officials to clear the silt deposited in the river channel and widen the lake’s outlet to ensure quick drainage.
He instructed the District Magistrate to immediately assess and report the damage caused to local people by waterlogging and debris flow, and to make arrangements for the procurement of potato crops at fair prices, since transportation had been disrupted.
The Chief Minister also inspected the damaged Kupra-Kunshala Bridge and directed that a responsible agency be assigned at the earliest to begin construction work. Until movement is restored, he ordered arrangements for an alternative pedestrian route.
CM Dhami emphasized that blocked roads due to landslides must be cleared promptly, and the Yamunotri route should be made operational soon for pilgrimage travel. He assured that the government stands firmly with every affected family in this difficult time, and that losses will be assessed quickly so that necessary assistance can be provided without delay.
