No Helmet, No Petrol: GPM District Pump Operators Take a Bold Step

All Pump Operators Become Lifetime Members of Red Cross

Raipur, Aug 2025 : To reduce road accidents and save lives, the administration of Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi (GPM) district has taken a major step. In a meeting held at the Arpa Conference Hall in the Collectorate, chaired by Collector Mrs. Leena Kamlesh Mandavi and Superintendent of Police Mr. S.R. Bhagat, it was decided that the rule of “No Helmet, No Petrol” will now be strictly enforced at all petrol and diesel pumps across the district.

All pump operators welcomed and agreed to the decision. It was decided that a one-week awareness campaign will be run to inform people that wearing a helmet is mandatory for refueling. For this, warning banners will be displayed at all pumps and announcements will be made at key intersections. After the awareness drive, the administration will strictly enforce the helmet rule.

The meeting also discussed joining the District Red Cross Society for humanitarian service. All pump operators paid a membership fee of ₹1000 each and became lifetime members. Additionally, Umesh Agrawal, operator of Mathura Petrol Pump in Gaurela, and Aditya Sahu, operator of Kavya Petrol Pump in Pendra, contributed ₹25,000 each to become patron members.

The meeting was attended by Additional SP Om Chandel, District Panchayat CEO Mukesh Rawate, Chief Medical & Health Officer Dr. Rameshwar Sharma, along with all major petrol pump operators and representatives of the district.

Pump operators associated with Hindustan Petroleum, Indian Oil, and Bharat Petroleum also participated and extended full support to this public welfare initiative. Through the joint efforts of the administration and pump operators, road safety in the district will be strengthened, and the habit of wearing helmets will help save countless precious lives.
