Rajasthan Sets New Green Milestone with 60,000 Saplings Planted in One Day, CM Sharma Vows 50 Crore Trees in 5 Years
Jaipur, Aug 2025 :Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma said that the state government launched the ‘Hariyalo Rajasthan’ campaign last year on the occasion of Hariyali Teej. Under this, a target of planting 7 crore saplings was set, and the goal was surpassed with 7.5 crore saplings planted. This year, the government had aimed for 10 crore saplings, and more than 11 crore have already been planted, taking the total to 18.5 crore so far. He affirmed that in the next five years, Rajasthan will plant 50 crore trees to transform the state into a lush green land.
Speaking at a program in Todaraisingh, Tonk, organized under ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ and ‘Hariyalo Rajasthan’, the CM emphasized that nature holds a sacred place in Indian culture, where trees, mountains, and water sources are revered. He said that the unique confluence of Lord Shiva’s temple, Bisalpur dam, and green hills in the region embodies this spirit.
Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’, the state launched ‘Hariyalo Rajasthan’ as a tribute to Mother Earth. To protect and greenify the Aravalli range, a ₹250 crore Green Aravalli Development Project has been introduced, covering 32,000 hectares in 19 districts this monsoon season.
Water and Farmer Welfare Initiatives
The CM announced major projects for farmers, including the Ramjal Setu Link project for eastern Rajasthan, advancing the Yamuna water agreement for Shekhawati, and linking the Mahi dam to the Jawai dam in western and southern Rajasthan. Plans are also underway to connect the Brahmani river to the Bisalpur dam. By 2027, the government aims to provide daytime electricity to farmers across the state, with 22 districts already benefitting. He also highlighted the Gopal Credit Card scheme to support livestock rearers.
Strict Action Against Paper Leaks
Sharma criticized the previous government for betraying the youth with repeated paper leaks, saying it shattered the dreams of countless families. His government formed an SIT to take strict action, ensuring culprits were jailed. He added that in the past 1.5 years, recruitment exams have been held transparently and on time, without a single paper leak, and thousands of youth have already been given government jobs.
Visible Development Work
The CM said that his government’s people-focused policies are delivering results on the ground. In Tonk district, major projects worth hundreds of crores have been sanctioned, including a four-lane road from Nasirabad to Deoli, bridges on the Banas river, repairs of Bisalpur canals, new drinking water projects worth over ₹90 crores, and sustainable water supply works worth ₹275 crores. Additionally, a road from Deoli to Nagar worth ₹58.5 crores is being constructed.
He also laid the foundation stones for several projects, including road widening works, new roads, and water supply schemes worth more than ₹70 crores. During the event, he planted a Sindoor sapling, and a record of 60,000 saplings planted simultaneously was set.
Public Health Engineering Minister Shri Kanhaiyalal praised CM Sharma as the “Bhagirath of Rajasthan” for ensuring water availability. Energy Minister Shri Hiralal Nagar reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing daytime electricity to farmers by 2027.
