Books Washed Away, Tablet Damaged in Floods — But Poonam’s UPSC Dream Will Not Stop

With CM’s Initiative, Poonam Receives New Books and Tablet to Continue Her Preparation

Raipur, Sept 2025 : Thanks to the initiative of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the administrative officer dream of Poonam Patel from flood-affected Dantewada will continue without interruption. Despite the devastation caused by recent floods, Poonam, who has been preparing for the UPSC exams for the past three years while living in the Naxal-affected region of Dantewada, can now resume her studies with renewed confidence.

Recently, due to heavy floods in Dantewada, Poonam and her entire family were forced to take shelter in a relief camp after their home was damaged and belongings swept away. Poonam, a resident of Chuditikra Para ward, shared that all her books were washed away in the floodwaters, and even her tablet—an essential tool for her UPSC preparation—was rendered unusable.

She explained that her father, Santosh Patel, runs a small grocery shop and had saved every rupee with great difficulty to buy her the tablet. Losing both her books and tablet left Poonam extremely worried about her future preparation.

When Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai met Poonam during his visit to the relief camp, he personally inquired about her situation. On his directions, the district administration immediately arranged for a new tablet and the required books for competitive exams.

This timely assistance has brought much-needed relief to Poonam. She expressed gratitude, saying that now the floods will not stand in the way of her goal of becoming an administrative officer.

The Chief Minister assured that the government stands firmly with every flood-affected family, and special efforts will be made to ensure that the aspirations of youth like Poonam are not derailed by natural calamities.
