New Delhi/Punjab, Sept 2025 : Aam Aadmi Party’s national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday appealed to all political parties of the country, state governments, and especially the central government to help Punjab, which is suffering from floods. He said that all AAP MPs and MLAs are donating their one-month salary to the Punjab Chief Minister Flood Relief Fund for helping flood-affected people. Along with ministers and MLAs of the Punjab government, all AAP workers are engaged day and night on the ground in relief work.

He said that Punjab has always stood tall in front of every calamity that came upon the nation. But today Punjab is in crisis. I appeal to all my countrymen to extend every possible help to the people of Punjab in this difficult time. Let us all rise above politics, fulfill the duty of humanity, and rescue Punjab from this terrible tragedy.

On Tuesday, Arvind Kejriwal released a video message with an appeal to help the people of flood-hit Punjab and said that Punjab is not just one state of our country, but a strong shield of Hindustan. History is witness that whenever any foreign invader advanced towards our country, Punjab bore the first attack on its chest. In all the attacks that happened in India, Punjab bore them on its chest and protected the whole of India. In every difficult time, Punjab always stood at the front. This is the same Punjab which gave the maximum sacrifices in the fire of freedom and gave countless martyrdoms for the protection of borders. In the freedom struggle, the maximum hangings happened to Punjabis and Punjabis went to ‘Kala Pani’ the most. In every particle of this soil, there is the spirit of sacrifice.

Arvind Kejriwal said that Punjabis have always given their sacrifices for the protection of Mother India so that the rest of the country could remain safe. Punjab is that holy land of five rivers, whose water has not only nourished crops, but also nurtured tales of knowledge and bravery. This is the land where Vedic hymns echoed, where the holy words of the Gurus showed the path. When there was a shortage of food in India and there was fear of how to feed the growing population, then Punjab, during the Green Revolution, sowed seeds and fertilizer into its land and produced grain for the whole country. Punjab feeds the entire country. Punjab has taken the responsibility to remove the hunger of people across the country. Today that very Punjab is in trouble.

Arvind Kejriwal said that today nature has wreaked such havoc on Punjab that it has come under the grip of floods. Punjab’s fields are filled with excessive water. Punjab’s people have become homeless and unemployed. Thousands of acres of crops have been destroyed. In this hour of disaster, today every Punjabi is helping each other. Forgetting their own troubles, every Punjabi is helping their neighbor. This example of humanity is possible only in Punjab. This example of humanity shows the way to the world. The disaster Punjab is facing today is not an ordinary flood, but after 37 years Punjab has seen such terrible devastation. More than one thousand villages are submerged in water, more than two and a half lakh of our brothers and sisters have suddenly become homeless. Their entire life’s earnings and dreams have been drowned in water.

Arvind Kejriwal said that this is such a big crisis that we cannot even imagine. The water is in such large quantities that even reaching the affected people is not easy. In this unprecedented crisis, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s government and the entire organization of the Aam Aadmi Party are standing with the affected people like a rock. All ministers, MLAs, and every single worker of the AAP government are present on the ground and are engaged in relief work day and night. These people themselves are sitting in boats, going village to village, entering the water, reaching the stranded people, and saving lives. From dry ration to water, medicines, fodder for animals, and every necessary item is being delivered to the affected areas without interruption. This crisis is very big. In this hour of crisis, the whole country is standing with Punjab.

Arvind Kejriwal, folding his hands, appealed to all political parties, state governments, and especially the central government, saying – Let us all rise above politics and fulfill the duty of humanity. Let us all come together and generously help Punjab. I appeal to all my countrymen that the Punjab which always bore every calamity that befell the nation on its chest, the Punjab which fed the people of the country, let us all contribute for that Punjab. I hope that in this difficult time we all will stand firmly with Punjab.
