Action Taken Against Illegal Transport of Bamboo & Cane, Accused Arrested
Raipur, Sept 2025 : Swift and effective action is being taken across the state against the illegal transport of bamboo, cane, and pika. In this sequence, action was initiated against Praveen Kumar Patel, a resident of Giroudpuri, for illegal transport of bamboo and pika, leading to his arrest.
According to the information received, during a routine patrol conducted under the leadership of Forest Range Officer Shri Rupendra Kumar Sahu in the Mahraji Circle, forest staff and security workers caught Praveen Kumar Patel, son of Bhunesh Ram Patel (aged 37, resident of Giroudpuri village), red-handed while illegally transporting bamboo and pika on a Honda Shine motorcycle (registration number CG22 AF 8094). The vehicle along with the bamboo and pika were seized on the spot, and a P.O.R. (Preliminary Offense Report) was registered. The confiscated bamboo and pika were destroyed as per legal procedure by digging a pit. Departmental action is also being taken against the accused.
Divisional Forest Officer Dhammshil Ganveer stated that illegal felling and transport of forest resources pose a serious threat to the environment and the health of forests. He emphasized that the Forest Department is keeping strict vigilance on such illegal cutting and transport of forest produce and is committed to the protection of natural resources by taking swift action in such cases. He appealed to the general public and villagers to immediately inform the department about any illegal activities so that, through collective efforts, forests can be protected and strict action can be taken against those involved in such activities.
