Happiness in the Lives of Kamar Sisters through Bihan
Earning ₹25,000 from Kitchen Garden Business in Just Six Months
Raipur, Sept 2025 : In Balodabazar-Bhatapara district, women from the particularly vulnerable tribal group (PVTG) Kamar community of PM Janman village Baldakchar have transformed their livelihoods by joining the Bihan Scheme. Nine women of a self-help group formed under Bihan collectively started kitchen garden and nursery businesses, opening a new chapter of self-reliance and prosperity in their lives.
Within just six months—since starting their work in April—the group has earned an income of ₹25,000 to ₹30,000 through vegetable sales.
This success is not only the result of their hard work and dedication but also a testimony to how women, when united, can strengthen their economic future. The group members shared that joining the Bihan Scheme gave them confidence in their abilities, and today they are contributing financially to their families.
They said, “The Bihan Scheme, launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, has given us an opportunity to change our lives. For us, this scheme is not just a tool of self-reliance but a powerful medium of women empowerment. We express our heartfelt gratitude to them.”
Today, the Kamar sisters of Baldakchar have become a source of inspiration for other women in their village and nearby areas with their hard work and success.
This collective effort under the Bihan group proves that when women work together, they can not only improve their families’ economic condition but also bring positive change to society. The Bihan Scheme is thus emerging as a crucial instrument for the economic and social upliftment of rural women, providing them not only self-reliance but also respect and confidence.
