Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to Establish Corporation for Ex-Servicemen Welfare
Mumbai : Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed the establishment of a corporation dedicated to the welfare of ex-servicemen. A meeting was held at the Sahyadri guest house, attended by School Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar, Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Vikas Kharge, Ex-Serviceman Welfare Department Secretary Sumant Bhange, Brigadier Sawant, District Soldier Welfare Officer Pranjal Jadhav, and other officials.
During the meeting, various issues concerning ex-servicemen were reviewed. The discussions covered several topics including the establishment of a rest house for ex-servicemen at Kharghar, activities to be managed by Mesco Corporation, salaries of ex-servicemen, setting up a museum in Mumbai, granting special status to Apshinge village (known as the village of soldiers) in Satara district, development work in the village, and discounts on tolls for ex-servicemen.
Acknowledging the sacrifices made by soldiers who have served on the border, Chief Minister Shinde directed the department secretary to form a corporation for their welfare. He noted that CIDCO has allocated a site for the ex-servicemen’s rest house at Kharghar in Navi Mumbai, and emphasized that construction work should commence immediately.
The state government remains committed to the welfare of ex-servicemen, and the Chief Minister urged the department to take swift action to address their issues and provide necessary support.
