Scindia Launches Adani Vikas Kendra in Shivpuri to Empower Women Through Skills and Employment
Badarwas (Madhya Pradesh), April 2026: Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Saturday inaugurated a state-of-the-art Adani Vikas Kendra in the Badarwas block of Shivpuri district, marking a significant step toward strengthening women’s livelihoods through skill development and employment opportunities.

The newly launched facility, developed by the Adani Foundation, spans 48,000 square feet and is equipped with 600 modern sewing machines. Designed as both a training and production hub, the centre aims to create sustainable income opportunities for women by integrating skill-building with access to markets.
Speaking at the inauguration, Scindia highlighted the transformative potential of the initiative. “What we are witnessing in Badarwas is the power of aspiration taking shape,” he said. He also commended Gautam Adani and the Adani Group for creating a platform that enables local talent to connect with national and global markets.

The initiative is part of the Foundation’s ‘Swabhimaan’ programme, which seeks to connect one million women across India with sustainable livelihood opportunities. Once fully operational, the centre is expected to provide direct employment and income support to nearly 1,500 women from Shivpuri and surrounding areas.
Officials noted that the project aims to enhance household incomes, reduce dependence on informal labour, and curb migration by creating employment within local communities. By equipping women with technical skills in garment production, the centre also seeks to strengthen their participation in the regional economy.
CEO of the Adani Foundation, Abhishek Lakhtakia, said the initiative focuses not only on training but also on ensuring market linkage. “Women here will work on modern machines, receive structured training, and produce garments that will be connected to reliable markets. Improving product quality and design will directly translate into higher incomes,” he said, adding that financial empowerment of women will have a positive impact on their families.
Project Manager Arvind Bhargava emphasized that the centre aligns with the broader vision of promoting ‘Lakhpati Didis’—women earning sustainable incomes. He noted that over 3,500 women in the Badarwas block are already engaged in tailoring and related activities, and the new facility will scale up employment opportunities significantly. “With 600 machines in operation, the centre is expected to provide jobs to around 1,200 to 1,400 women, leading to a noticeable rise in their monthly earnings,” he said.
The project, which began with its foundation stone laid in January 2025, has been completed in record time. Its launch ensures immediate employment opportunities, allowing trained women to begin work without delay.
Trainer Anisha Dixit highlighted the impact on rural communities. “This is a major opportunity for women who previously had limited access to platforms beyond home-based stitching work. So far, 113 women have been trained, and we aim to train around 1,300 more this year,” she said. According to her, the programme is enhancing the existing skills of rural women and preparing them for more stable and better-paying opportunities.
The Adani Foundation currently operates across 7,071 villages in 22 states, impacting over 9.6 million lives through various social initiatives. The Shivpuri centre represents a focused effort to expand livelihood opportunities in rural India, particularly for women seeking financial independence and skill-based employment.
With its emphasis on training, production, and market integration, the Adani Vikas Kendra is expected to play a crucial role in transforming the economic landscape for women in the region, offering them a pathway to dignity, stability, and self-reliance.
