Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai Inaugurates AEROCON 2025; New Direction for Cancer Research and Treatment
Raipur, Sept 2025 : Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated AEROCON 2025, a two-day conference of the Chhattisgarh–Madhya Pradesh Chapter, held at the auditorium of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Raipur. Addressing experts and attendees, he said that the health of Chhattisgarh’s 30 million citizens is the state government’s top priority. He assured that financial resources will never become an obstacle in providing healthcare facilities to the people of the state.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced the construction of a new hostel for students of Raipur Medical College at a cost of ₹65 crore.
He emphasized that thousands of cancer patients are receiving a new lease of life thanks to the dedication of doctors and modern medical methods. He noted that research in the past two decades has brought new hope for early detection and treatment of cancer. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, cancer daycare centers are being set up in every district, and Chhattisgarh is making rapid progress in this direction.
Highlighting key initiatives, he said that under the Chief Minister’s Special Health Assistance Scheme, many patients have received treatment. Reduced GST on cancer medicines and equipment has also brought great relief. He added that advanced equipment for cancer treatment is being installed in state hospitals, and AIIMS Raipur has launched a robotic surgery system today—proving that government hospitals are at the forefront of adopting cutting-edge technology. Artificial Intelligence (AI), he said, is proving extremely useful in cancer diagnosis, and the state is quickly integrating it into healthcare services.
The Chief Minister also announced that the government is consistently increasing the health budget and opening new medical colleges. A 5,000-bed “Medicity” is being developed in Nava Raipur. To strengthen healthcare access in remote regions like Bastar and Sarguja, new hospitals will be established in Sarguja, Dharamjaygarh, and Bastar. He expressed confidence that AEROCON 2025 would be a milestone in cancer prevention and treatment.
Speaker Dr. Raman Singh, addressing the event, said that the 7th edition of AEROCON has brought together experts from diverse fields of cancer treatment on a single platform, which will open new dimensions in cancer care. He also said that Raipur’s Mekahara Hospital is not only a major treatment hub for Chhattisgarh but also for patients from other central Indian states. With advanced machines and technology, healthcare services here will be further strengthened in the future.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal stated that Raipur Medical College is the state’s largest cancer center, offering the most advanced facilities. He announced that six physiotherapy colleges will be established across the state, super-specialty hospitals will begin operations in Bastar and Sarguja, a dedicated hospital for mental health patients will be opened, and a naturopathy college will be set up. Mekahara Hospital will see an addition of 700 beds at a cost of ₹232 crore, along with facilities like robotic surgery and an IVF center.
The event was attended by MLA Purandar Mishra, Dean of Raipur Medical College Dr. Vivek Chaudhary, Vice-Chancellor of Ayush University Prof. P.K. Patra, senior doctors, students, and prominent citizens.
