Indigenous Consulting Firms to Be Given Priority in Skill Department Institutions – Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha
Opportunities for Indian Consulting Firms in Research-Oriented Fields
Mumbai, Sept 2025 : Skill, Entrepreneurship, Employment and Innovation Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha has announced that only indigenous consulting firms will be given priority for research-related work and advisory roles in all institutions under the Skill Development Department. Instead of foreign companies, Indian consulting firms will now be appointed to prepare research reports, policy frameworks related to employment, workshops, and various courses taught in ITIs. Minister Lodha also informed that a detailed policy in this regard will soon be sent by the Skill Department to the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training.
Recalling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ call a decade ago, Lodha noted that many Indian companies have since emerged strongly across diverse sectors. With the rise of startups, several Indian consulting firms have also established a strong presence. “Now, instead of depending on foreign companies, we will engage Indian firms for research-based work, thereby reinforcing the principle of self-reliance,” Lodha said. He added that under the guidance of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, various vocational education and training institutions in Maharashtra are being modernized, and the involvement of indigenous consulting firms will further strengthen this journey.
The decision will apply to institutions under the Skill Development Department, including the Ratan Tata Maharashtra Skill University, Maharashtra State Innovation Society, affiliated agencies, and employment service offices. The department is working to open doors of global employment opportunities for Indian youth while producing skilled workers of high quality. Now, Indian consulting firms will also contribute significantly to related research activities.
Minister Lodha emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has resolved to make India an economic superpower by 2047, and providing opportunities to Indian companies across sectors is part of this vision. “This will not only accelerate India’s economy but also enhance the global reputation of Indian firms,” Lodha said.
