Mahapareshan Completes Nagpur’s Pachgaon Substation Project 8 Months Ahead of Schedule
Mumbai, Sept 2025 : The Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company (Mahapareshan) has successfully completed and commissioned the 220 kV Pachgaon Substation and the associated 220 kV Kanhan-Umred LILO transmission line (22 circuit km) in Nagpur Division eight months ahead of the scheduled completion date. Chief Minister and Energy Minister Devendra Fadnavis praised Mahapareshan for this achievement.
Under the guidance of Additional Chief Secretary (Energy) Smt. Abha Shukla (IAS) and leadership of Mahapareshan’s Chairman and Managing Director Dr. Sanjeev Kumar (IAS), the substation at Pachgaon in Kuhi Taluka, Nagpur district, along with the linked transmission line, was completed and made operational well ahead of schedule.
With the commissioning of the 220/33 kV Pachgaon Substation, domestic and industrial electricity consumers in Kuhi taluka and adjoining rural areas of Nagpur district will benefit significantly. Consumers will now receive electricity at proper voltage levels and with uninterrupted supply.
Currently, Mahapareshan is rapidly developing projects at multiple locations across Maharashtra. However, licensed transmission companies often face hurdles such as legal disputes, forest clearances, railway crossing approvals, and highway permissions, which delay timely project completion.
Despite these challenges, the Project Director (Projects) Shri Avinash Nimbalkar, along with Nagpur Division Chief Engineer Shri Satish Ane and their team, set a new benchmark by completing the substation and line works eight months before deadline.
The project contract was awarded on February 26, 2024 to M/s Prakash Electricals Engineering Corporation, Ratnagiri, with a deadline of April 11, 2026. However, thanks to meticulous planning by Superintending Engineer (EHV Projects, Nagpur) Shri Jaywant Kokate, Executive Engineers Shri Jayesh Kolhe and Shri Sanjay Wadhave, the project was completed on August 16, 2025, much ahead of schedule.
Efforts of engineers including Shri Pravin Kumar Damke, Shri Nishit Kirolikar, Shri Anil Savarkar, and Shri Bhushan Khandekar were instrumental in the successful commissioning of the substation. On this occasion, Project Director Shri Avinash Nimbalkar felicitated Shri Prakash Deshmukh, Director of M/s Prakash Electricals Engineering Corporation, for their contribution.
