Rajasthan to Develop Maharana Pratap and Tribal Tourist Circuits to Preserve Heritage and Boost Tourism: CM Bhajanlal Sharma

Jaipur, Sept 2025: Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said that the state government is committed to preserving and promoting Rajasthan’s glorious history, ancient heritage, and tribal culture. He announced the development of the Maharana Pratap Tourist Circuit to introduce the younger generation to the life of the valiant warrior and spread the tales of his bravery to the masses.

The circuit will include historically significant sites linked to Maharana Pratap’s life, such as Chavand, Haldighati, Gogunda, Kumbhalgarh, Dewair, and Udaipur, with an allocation of ₹100 crore. Additionally, a Tribal Tourist Circuit, also with a budget of ₹100 crore, will be developed to preserve tribal culture. These initiatives are expected to give a new boost to Rajasthan’s tourism sector and generate employment at the local level.

The Chief Minister was addressing a review meeting on the Maharana Pratap and Tribal Tourist Circuits at the CMO on Tuesday. He emphasized that Maharana Pratap’s life inspires people to defend sovereignty, safeguard freedom, and live with dignity. “Through the Maharana Pratap Tourist Circuit, we want to share his message globally, allowing domestic and international tourists to experience his legacy of valor,” he said.

Grand Memorial of Chetak in Haldighati

Sharma announced the construction of a majestic memorial dedicated to Maharana Pratap’s loyal horse, Chetak, at Haldighati. He also directed the use of modern techniques like 3D visuals, light-and-sound shows to depict the historic Battle of Haldighati for tourists.

He instructed officials to develop Pratap’s memorial site at Chavand in an impressive manner and build a Victory Tower at Dewair to commemorate his historic triumph. Similar monuments and memorials will be developed at Gogunda and Chittorgarh to honor his legacy.

Preserving Tribal History and Culture

Highlighting the vital role of tribal communities in Rajasthan’s history, the CM said the government is working continuously to safeguard tribal traditions and heritage. The Tribal Tourist Circuit, being developed with ₹100 crore, will cover sites such as Sitamata Sanctuary, Rishabhdev, Gautameshwar Temple, and Matru Kundiya, along with the development of Beneshwar Dham and Mangarh Dham.

He pointed out that Beneshwar Dham hosts a massive tribal fair at the confluence of the Som, Mahi, and Jakham rivers, attracting large gatherings from tribal communities. The government will revamp the ghats and improve facilities at the site. In line with the state budget announcements, memorials for tribal heroes will also be built at Dungar Baranda (Dungarpur) and Bansia Charpota (Banswara).

The meeting was attended by Deputy CM Diya Kumari, Rajasthan Heritage Authority Chairman Omkar Singh Lakhawat, and senior officials from the Departments of Tourism, Art & Culture, and Finance.
