CM Bhajanlal Sharma Chairs High-Level District Review Meeting in Bharatpur; Focus on Heritage, Waterlogging and Public Services

Jaipur, May 2026 : Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Monday held a district-level review meeting with senior officials in Bharatpur, emphasizing that the city represents Rajasthan’s rich historical heritage and that development must go hand in hand with heritage conservation.

He directed officials to prepare comprehensive plans ensuring both infrastructure development and preservation of heritage sites, along with regular monitoring of ongoing projects and increased field inspections.

Given the intense summer heat, the Chief Minister instructed departments to further strengthen drinking water supply, electricity distribution, and healthcare services to ensure that citizens do not face any inconvenience. He specifically directed improvements in tanker-based water supply systems in rural areas and better execution of drinking water schemes. He also instructed the Public Health Engineering Department to impose penalties on contractors for pending works and submit reports under Section 91 wherever necessary.

Reviewing the power supply situation in the district, he issued directions for proper transformer load management and installation of new transformers wherever required to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply. He further instructed authorities to ensure full availability of essential medicines in Community Health Centres (CHCs) and Primary Health Centres (PHCs), intensify public awareness regarding heatwave precautions, and conduct surprise inspections through food safety officials. He stressed that officials and staff must work in a team spirit to ensure basic services reach every citizen effectively.

Restoration of Ancient Water Bodies and Flood Management Plan

Highlighting Bharatpur’s bowl-like geographical structure, the Chief Minister said that a robust long-term strategy must be prepared to address waterlogging during the monsoon season. He directed the District Collector to form a special team to identify the causes of waterlogging in urban areas and implement permanent solutions.

He also issued detailed instructions for the restoration of ancient stepwells and water bodies, along with large-scale plantation drives to improve ecological balance.

Under the ‘Vande Ganga Water Conservation Public Campaign,’ he directed the restoration of anicuts, canals, and ponds, along with cleaning of earthen canals across the district. Reviewing ongoing gas pipeline works in the city, he instructed officials to expedite progress and ensure timely completion of all construction works with high quality standards.

Public Hearing and Citizen Grievance Redressal

During a public hearing held at the Bharatpur Circuit House, the Chief Minister listened to grievances raised by citizens and directed officials to ensure prompt and effective resolution. A large number of people from Bharatpur and nearby areas participated and submitted their concerns.

He instructed officials to maintain transparency, sensitivity, and accountability while addressing public grievances, reiterating that the state government is fully committed to resolving citizens’ issues with seriousness and responsiveness.

Following the public hearing, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for fuel conservation, the Chief Minister travelled to the District Collectorate meeting venue via an e-bus.

The review meeting was attended by Minister of State for Home Jawahar Singh Bedham, MLAs Dr. Shailesh Singh, Nauksham Chaudhary, and Bahadur Singh Koli, Additional Chief Secretary (Water Resources) Abhay Kumar, Bharatpur Divisional Commissioner Anandi, IG Kailash Bishnoi, Bharatpur Collector Qamar-ul-Zaman Chaudhary, Deeg Collector Mayank Manish, BDA Commissioner Kanishk Kataria, Bharatpur SP Rajesh Meena, Deeg SP Kamble Sharan Gopinath, along with several public representatives and senior officials.
