The rating was announced by the Government of India’s Maharatna company REC and the Power Foundation of India (PFI), based on multiple parameters. Maharashtra scored 93 points, earning the prestigious ‘A’ grade.
The state has also taken the lead in planning its electricity demand until 2035, making it the first in the country to do so. Currently, Maharashtra has an installed capacity of 42,000 MW. In the next five years, an additional 45,000 MW will be added, raising the total installed capacity to 87,000 MW.
