Adilakshmi Finds a New Path Through the Didi E-Rickshaw Scheme

Holding the handle of an e-rickshaw has made life’s journey easier

Raipur, Sept 2025 : Adilakshmi Yadav, a resident of Neharpara, Kondagaon, once lived a life surrounded by hardships. To shoulder her family’s responsibilities, she worked in other people’s homes cooking meals, barely managing to make ends meet. Yet, she always dreamt of standing on her own feet and giving her family a better future.

To turn her dream of self-reliance into reality, she learned about the government’s Didi E-Rickshaw Scheme. When officials from the Labour Department explained the details of the scheme and the financial assistance being offered, her life took a new direction.

By availing the benefits of this scheme, she purchased an e-rickshaw. Since she was registered with the Chhattisgarh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, she also received financial support of ₹1 lakh. Today, Lakshmi drives her e-rickshaw and earns ₹15,000 to ₹20,000 per month. With this income, she not only pays her EMI installments on time but also takes care of her family’s needs comfortably. She shared that earning through her own hard work brings her immense happiness. For women who are determined to progress with courage and dedication, this is indeed a wonderful scheme.

Lakshmi recalls emotionally that the very roads she once walked on, going house to house for work, are now the same roads where she drives her own e-rickshaw, giving rides to passengers.

This government initiative is not only making women like Lakshmi self-reliant but also setting a new example of women’s empowerment in society. Today, with confidence, Lakshmi says that with hard work and the right opportunities, women can excel in every field. She expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai for the support received under the scheme.
