All ministers must allocate a time to meet public representatives, says CM Yogi.

Lucknow : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath chaired a high-level review meeting on Wednesday to discuss key issues including power supply, fertilizer distribution, water availability in canals, and the management of destitute cattle. He provided essential guidelines, emphasizing the need for adequate electricity during the humid summer and farming season. He instructed that the toll-free number 1912 should remain active and responsive to consumer calls. Additionally, he called for strict action against those involved in corruption and inefficient employees.

CM Yogi emphasized that Energy Department ministers should have comprehensive details of the daily status of every DISCOM. He also instructed all ministers to allocate time to meet with public representatives, maintaining constant communication to understand and address their expectations and needs appropriately. Additionally, CM Yogi advised that before laying underground electricity cables, a strategy should be devised in coordination with the local administration. Decisions on when, where, and how to lay the cables should be made collaboratively, ensuring minimal inconvenience to the public.

CM Yogi instructed that personnel within the department should be assigned as in-charge according to their respective feeders, ensuring clear accountability. In areas where power cuts are unavoidable, additional electricity should be supplied during the day. He also emphasized that in regions where irrigation water is available only through tube wells, agricultural feeders must receive 12 hours of electricity as per the roster.

CM Yogi emphasized the need to expedite the capacity expansion of old power plants and the establishment of new ones. He stressed the importance of ensuring no power cuts occur during the day for domestic and industrial sectors. He called for the development of a robust mechanism to establish accountability at the levels of DISCOM, zone, district, and beyond. CM Yogi acknowledged the significant reduction in power theft cases compared to earlier times and urged further improvement in this area, advocating for strict action against those caught stealing electricity.

Addressing water availability in canals, CM Yogi noted that during this monsoon season, 31 districts have experienced above-average rainfall, 43 districts have received below-average rainfall, and one district has seen negligible rainfall. He directed the development of a comprehensive plan to ensure that every farm receives water regardless of rainfall. CM Yogi also emphasized the urgent need to repair damaged government tube wells in affected districts promptly.

CM Yogi highlighted that in 54 districts of the state, canals have achieved over 80 percent tail feeding, while in 11 districts, tail feeding ranges between 60-80 percent, and in 20 districts, it is below 60 percent. In response, he emphasized the need to ensure water delivery to reservoirs via canals and to arrange for desilting of these reservoirs. He directed the creation of a sustainable action plan to maintain these efforts effectively.

Addressing fertilizer supply, CM Yogi assured that there is no shortage in the state, with almost every district maintaining a 20-25 day stock. He noted that fertilizer committees also have ample supplies. CM Yogi emphasized the importance of ensuring that every farmer receives fertilizer on time according to their needs. He called for strict action against individuals involved in black marketing and smuggling of fertilizers, safeguarding the interests of farmers.

Regarding the welfare of destitute cows, CM Yogi highlighted the establishment of large conservation centers across the state for their protection. He stressed the need for adequate arrangements of fodder and straw at these centers and the provision of caretakers to ensure proper care. CM Yogi also advocated for advancing the Gobardhan scheme in the districts through a public-private partnership (PPP) model. In light of the rainy season, he recommended launching a vaccination campaign for destitute cows to protect them against foot-and-mouth disease, and throat infections.

Ministers Surya Pratap Shahi, Swatantra Dev Singh, AK Sharma, Dinesh Khatik, Baldev Singh Aulakh, Dr. Somendra Tomar were present in the meeting.
