Deputy CM Eknath Shinde directs preparation of slum redevelopment plan for Chiplun and Ratnagiri.
Ratnagiri, Oct 2025 : Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed officials to prepare a comprehensive slum redevelopment plan for the cities of Chiplun and Ratnagiri. He said the redevelopment should be based on the Slum Redevelopment Programme and the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). He further instructed that a list of all proposals pending with the government be submitted so that necessary action can be taken to resolve them.
The review meeting held at the Government Rest House was attended by Guardian Minister Dr. Uday Samant, Minister of State for Revenue Yogesh Kadam, District Collector Manuj Jindal, Chief Executive Officer Vaidehi Rande, Superintendent of Police Nitin Bagate, Additional CEO Parikshit Yadav, District Civil Surgeon Dr. Bhaskar Jagtap, Medical Dean Dr. Jayaprakash Ramanand, former MLA Rajan Salvi, and other officials.
Deputy CM Shinde first reviewed the damage caused by recent heavy rains and instructed that compensation be promptly provided to affected farmers and citizens. He said, “Submit a consolidated list of proposals pending with the government. Also, prepare and submit a proposal regarding the Sindhuratna Scheme.”
Shinde emphasized that a detailed plan should be prepared for the redevelopment of slum areas in cities like Chiplun and Ratnagiri. The plan should include provisions for open spaces, parks, and community facilities. He said the redevelopment should draw upon the frameworks of the Slum Redevelopment Scheme and the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana to ensure better living conditions for residents.
Loans distributed to 5 self-help groups (SHGs):
Under the initiative to promote self-employment through small-scale industries, financial assistance was distributed to self-help groups for the fiscal year 2025–26. The following SHGs received loans:
- Shivparvati Mahila Bachat Gat, Murugwada – ₹8 lakh for fish sales
- Shahnur Alibaba Mahila Bachat Gat, Rajivada – ₹6 lakh for fish sales
- Rajasa Mahila Bachat Gat, Partawane – ₹4 lakh for bakery products
- Krushnai Mahila Bachat Gat, Partawane – ₹10 lakh for purse and bag making
- Sanjeevani Mahila Bachat Gat, Krantinagar – ₹10 lakh for flour and grain product manufacturing
Deputy CM Shinde personally handed over the loan cheques to these self-help groups. On this occasion, as part of the Chief Minister’s “150 Days of Service” initiative, he also unveiled display boards highlighting innovative programs undertaken by the Ratnagiri Police Force.
