New Girls School and Junior College in Thane Becomes ‘Lokrajya-Junior College’
Thane : The government’s official magazine, Lokrajya, holds significant importance. Recognizing this, the People’s Education Society in Thane, which operates the New Girls School and Junior College, has taken a notable step. President RS Apte, Secretary Alhad Joshi, and Deputy Secretary BS Turukmane have made 250 students from the 11th and 12th grades members of Lokrajya, setting a model for a bright academic future for these students. Principal Prof. Kiran Kumar Chavan and his colleagues played a crucial role in making this decision a reality. With this initiative, the junior college has become the first in Maharashtra to adopt Lokrajya magazine membership for the 2024-25 financial year.
The People’s Education Society, Thane, is a well-established educational institution. It was founded in 1926 and has since established several schools: New English School (1926), New Girls School (1936), Bharat Night School (1956), English Medium School (1975), CBSC School (2011), and a second CBSC School (2022). The institution is celebrating its 98th year, with the centenary approaching in the next two years.
Secretary Alhad Joshi expressed the belief that students from ordinary families benefit from understanding people-oriented decisions made by the Maharashtra government. He emphasized that Lokrajya will provide valuable insights into government actions and decisions. Joshi also encouraged other schools and colleges in the state to subscribe to Lokrajya at an annual fee of just 100 rupees.
The junior college will receive the ‘Lokrajya Award’ during the main government flag-hoisting ceremony on August 15, 2024.
