The awards were presented during the National Conference of the Aadi Karmayogi Abhiyan, held at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi. The Dharati Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan award for Maharashtra was received by Vijay Waghmare, Secretary, Tribal Development Department, while District Collector Abhishek Panda accepted the award for Gadchiroli District under the Aadi Karmayogi Abhiyan.

In her address, President Murmu said the conference reflects the nation’s commitment to building a participatory, inclusive, and people-driven governance system. The Aadi Karmayogi Abhiyan, she noted, was launched with a transformative vision to make every tribal village self-reliant and proud. The initiative aims to integrate tribal communities into the nation’s development journey and ensure that the benefits of progress reach all tribal areas and people.

President Murmu expressed confidence that the Tribal Action Plan would play a vital role in advancing the development of both tribal populations and the nation as a whole. She emphasized that the Aadi Karmayogi Abhiyan empowers Gram Sabhas and community-led institutions, thereby strengthening public participation. The active and meaningful involvement of tribal communities, she said, can influence national policies and make government schemes more effective.

Highlighting the importance of tribal communities, President Murmu said they are an integral part of India’s socio-cultural diversity, and their traditions remind us that true development must remain in harmony with nature.

Over the past few years, the government has taken significant steps for the holistic development of tribal communities. The objective is not just to provide economic assistance but also to ensure access to education, healthcare, employment, technical skills, and equal participation in governance.

The President also noted that the government has expanded infrastructure in tribal areas, established residential schools and scholarship programs to bring tribal youth into the mainstream, and promoted skill development and self-employment initiatives to boost traditional crafts, artisanal skills, and entrepreneurship. These measures, she said, have not only enhanced livelihood opportunities but also instilled self-confidence and self-reliance among tribal populations.

Concluding her address, President Murmu emphasized that in the journey toward a developed India, it is essential to recognize that true national progress lies in the development of all sections of society. She called for the creation of an inclusive society, where every citizen can participate meaningfully and be empowered to shape their own future.
