AIMIM Releases First List of 25 Candidates for Bihar Polls, Fields Two Hindus

Patna, Oct 2025 : With political campaigning gaining momentum ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, Asaduddin Owaisi’s All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) on Sunday released its first list of 25 candidates. What drew particular attention was the inclusion of two Hindu candidates—marking a notable shift in the party’s electoral strategy.

Announcing the list on its official handle on X, the AIMIM said it aimed to be the “voice of the weakest and most neglected sections” of Bihar’s population. The party, which made significant inroads in the Seemanchal region during the last Assembly elections by relying heavily on the Muslim vote base, appears to be broadening its social outreach this time.

According to the list, AIMIM’s Bihar state president Akhtarul Iman will contest from Amour. The two Hindu nominees—Rana Ranjit Singh and Manoj Kumar Das—will contest from Dhaka and Sikandra constituencies, respectively.

Other prominent names in the list include Adil Hasan from Balrampur, Shamimul Haq from Narkatia, and Anas Salam from Gopalganj. Murshid Alam has been fielded from Jokihat, Tausif Alam from Bahadurganj, Ghulam Hasnain from Thakurganj, and Advocate Shams Aagaz from Kishanganj. The list also features Ghulam Sarwar from Baisi, Shan-e-Ali Khan from Sherghati, Mohammad Ismail from Nathnagar, Mohammad Kaifi from Siwan, and Dr. Munazir Hasan from Munger.

Other candidates include Anisur Rahman (Keoti), Faisal Rahman (Jale), Naseema Khatoon (Nawada), Rashid Khalil Ansari (Madhubani), Mohammad Jalal (Darbhanga Rural), Akhtar Shahanshah (Gaurabauram), Shahnawaz Alam (Kasba), Mohammad Manzoor Alam (Araria), Mohammad Matiur Rahman Shershahabadi (Barari), and Sarwar Alam (Kochadhaman).

The AIMIM has entered the Bihar electoral fray in alliance with the Azad Samaj Party and the Janata Party. Akhtarul Iman emphasized that the coalition represents “the collective voice of Dalits, minorities, the oppressed, backward classes, and the deprived,” and pledged to continue fighting for their rights with renewed strength.

The Bihar Assembly elections will be conducted in two phases—on November 6 and November 11—with the counting of votes scheduled for November 14.
