Andhra Pradesh Will Not Compromise on Law and Order: CM Chandrababu Naidu

Amaravati, Oct 2025 : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday asserted that his government would not compromise on law and order, emphasizing that peace and social harmony are essential for attracting investments and ensuring sustainable development.

Speaking at the Police Commemoration Parade in Mangalagiri, Naidu paid rich tributes to the police martyrs and hailed the dedication of the state police force. “Peace and order form the foundation for prosperity. If there is unrest in society, investments will not come. Those who invest expect security for their capital,” he said.

Citing global confidence in the state’s stability, the Chief Minister said that Google’s decision to invest $15 billion in a data centre in Visakhapatnam was a reflection of investors’ faith in Andhra Pradesh’s safety and governance. “This is the largest foreign direct investment (FDI) in India. It happened because the world believes Andhra Pradesh is a safe and reliable destination,” Naidu said.

He described the Andhra Pradesh Police as a strong brand, known for its success in combating factionalism, Naxalism, and rowdyism. Naidu underscored the importance of adopting technology to enhance policing, stating, “The pattern of crime is evolving, and criminals are becoming more sophisticated. Therefore, the police must stay one step ahead, using modern tools such as CCTV networks, drones, and digital forensics like Google Takeout and phone signal analysis.”

Highlighting recent technological initiatives, he said that drones were being used to detect and destroy marijuana crops and to track red sandalwood smugglers in forest areas. The state government, he added, is committed to technologically empowering the police department to maintain safety and public trust.

Naidu cautioned against attempts to create communal tension and social unrest. Without naming political parties, he accused certain groups of inciting violence and spreading misinformation. Referring to the death of Pastor Praveen, he said, “Some tried to exploit the incident to divide communities. However, we revealed the truth with the help of CCTV footage.”

He also mentioned the GD Nellore incident, where miscreants set fire to a statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and tried to blame the government. “We exposed the conspiracy by presenting the facts to the public,” he said.

Naidu further alleged that similar malicious campaigns were being run on social media, calling it one of the biggest modern challenges for law enforcement. “Some people post obscene and defamatory content freely. The police must act firmly against those harassing women or spreading false information. Such strictness will serve as a deterrent,” he stated.

The Chief Minister, who received a guard of honour from the police personnel, reiterated his government’s unwavering support for the force. “On Police Commemoration Day, we salute the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of our police personnel. Their service ensures peace, justice, and progress. Without security, there can be no development,” he said.

State Home Minister V. Anitha, who also attended the event, highlighted the government’s initiatives for women’s safety, including the launch of the “Shakti App” and “Shakti Teams”. “We are building an environment where even the thought of harassing or harming women becomes terrifying,” she said.

To achieve a drug-free Andhra Pradesh, Anitha said a special unit named ‘Eagle’ had been set up to crack down on drug peddling and consumption. “Our victory against Maoism is proof of our determination. The people themselves are now standing up against Maoists — this is our moral victory,” she added.

Director General of Police (DGP) Harish Kumar Gupta praised the commitment of the police force, noting that officers continue to face modern challenges such as cybercrime with bravery, discipline, and selfless service.

The ceremony concluded with floral tributes to police martyrs, echoing the Chief Minister’s message that law, order, and peace are the true pillars of a developed Andhra Pradesh.
